Bright Futures: The Thresholds Blog. Recommended Reading (Ron Otto). Last year I facilitated a wellness and recovery group for persons with mental illness at a Chicago nursing home. A major focus of the group was on the wellness tools and strategies that people use to stay healthy and well. The nursing home resident made another suggestion (for which I’m also grateful): when you’re feeling down, read your journal. Check out Oprah’s interview here. April 13, 2010 at 10:33 am. Bright Futures: The Thresholds Blog. The Lobotomist – PBS on mental health history. April 27, 2010 at 9:27 am. Last night, I watched an. Documentary on PBS called. It’s a powerful, visceral piece, and there were times it was hard to watch. In the 1940s Dr. Walter Freeman gained fame for perfecting the lobotomy, then hailed as a miracle cure for the severely mentally ill. But within a few years, lobotomy was labeled one of the most barbaric mistakes of modern medicine. You can watch the documentary here.

Thresholds and Passages
Portals to the life you were meant to live. Saturday, June 28, 2008.
