The Throbbing Thumb

The Journal of a Wannabe Gardener. Saturday, June 9, 2007. A few weeks ago I re-hung the wire that supports a climber out on the patio. Each week since then I've spent some time with some nylon cord tying up new shoots. My long term goal is to have a lush climber roof. I expect it will take about five years to get where I'm going. The current Australian government believes in letting the market find it's own way and has worked hard to give the market more freedom. This has lead to much growth and now...

The Throbbing Thumb: January 2007

http://throbbingthumb.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

The Journal of a Wannabe Gardener. Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Living with less Lawn. This is the second part of a retrospective series of garden projects from the last six months. Inspired by my attack on the Drive Bed it was time to do something about the front lawn. Lawn is the first thing you can't water when water restrictions are introduced. So living with less lawn seems a good starting point for a drought prosperous garden. Links to this post. Sunday, January 21, 2007. Now don't get me wrong&#46...

The Throbbing Thumb: Some new additions

http://throbbingthumb.blogspot.com/2007/03/some-new-additions.html

The Journal of a Wannabe Gardener. Saturday, March 31, 2007. We've had a few showers over the last fortnight and there is still some moisture in the soil. Taking into the reckoning that our last round of plantings are now well established we decided to go plant shopping. For the back fence we bought two Acacia iteaphylla. For the same bed a Pittosporum Sunburst to go with an existing Pittosporum. This new one has a variegated leaf with gold veins blending to green at the edge of the leaf.

The Throbbing Thumb: Drought Victim

http://throbbingthumb.blogspot.com/2007/03/drought-victim.html

The Journal of a Wannabe Gardener. Sunday, March 11, 2007. I have just removed a climber from the fence outside our bedroom. It's been unwell for a while. But the drought was really the last straw. I would have liked to leave it a bit longer as it provides shade to our room through the worst of the summer heat. But it was so dead it was a fire risk. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Top 100 Singles of the 1990s. So, over on a message board, we had a poll on what were the Top 100 Singles of the 1990s. Here is my list, there are some rather large oversights (Who knew Jawbreaker had two awesome singles in the 90s in "Fireman" and "Chesterfield King"? Not allmusic, that's for sure). Anyways, here's my list. 30 The Cra...

More bla bla bla. May 10, 2014. Hello lovely people,. Some time ago a friend moved this blog to a .com address for me, but I don’t think any of you came with me. I have no idea what to do about that apart from tell you on here where I’ve gone. As an extra ‘please please come and find me some time’ I have written a post which is wonderful – but it’s not wonderful because of me – it’s wonderful because of a faceless man in an office somewhere. February 23, 2014. Today I experienced my first ever fish-love.

Throbbins Nest

My own little corner of the internet. Tuesday, April 22, 2014. I am keenly aware of the looming colossus of hustle and grit I am about to collide with. It's been a trip. I've reduced my social life from bare to non-existent. I've eased off twitter and facebook. I've tried to get more sleep (I'm probably getting less). Since August I've used exactly 3 days of annual leave - 2 to write my LSAT, and 1 to attend an open house at the University. And yet, doubts linger. I've read that this is healthy - tha...
