NOAA’s Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary offices, and visitor center, the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center. Alpena, Michigan 49707. Office Hours: M-F, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Closed on Federal Holidays. The visitor center is FREE and open all year. 5:00 pm, Monday through Sunday. Summer hours start on Saturday. Of Memorial Day weekend. Extended evening hours in July and August - open until 7:00 pm. 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. 12 noon - 5:00 pm. Winter hours start the second Monday in October.
