Scout & Guide Band. Thurmaston Scout group run two additional sections for its members, the Canoe section and the Scout and Guide Band otherwise known as Thurmaston Marching Brass. Both sections have a long history and are well known to the wider scouting world through the achievements of its members down the years. Each section are led by people with the relevant qualifications and experience to make for safe and fun participation for those involved.

Scout & Guide Band. 78th Leicester Scout Group run sections for the whole age-range of scouting as well as a well established Scout and Guide Band and Canoe Section. History Of The Band. History Of Thurmaston Marching Brass. 78th Leicester (1st Thurmaston) Scout and Guide Band originally formed in 1935 as a Drum and Bugle Band. It disbanded due to World War 2 and reformed in 1947. In the 1970’s Guides joined the band and the instrumentation changed allowing them. To become a fully chromatic wind band.

History Of The Band. About Thurmaston Marching Brass. The band is an activity within the Scout and Guide movement and any member of the movement has the opportunity to join the band. As the year progresses the Trainees will begin to play music together and also learn to both march and play at the same time . something that is not easy to do! The Trainee section meet at the Thurmaston Scout and Guide HQ on a Monday evening 18:00 to 19:30.

History Of The Band. I've been in the band for just over a year now and I really enjoy it. It's a really great organisation that helps to give young people an opportunity that's different from most other things around and is run by a great group of volunteers that give up their time to make it all possible. Before I joined the band I had music lessons for two years but I can honestly say that I've grown in confidence and learnt more from being in the band than I ever did from my music lessons.

History Of The Band. How To Become A Member. What is a Band Trainee? Do I need to be able to play a musical instrument to become a Band Trainee? No you dont. We teach you everything you need to know about music and how to play the instruments. You dont even have to buy your own instrument as the band owns all these and make them available to band members. How much does being a Band Trainee Cost? The subscription is £2.50 per month which includes the loan of an instrument and music tuition.
