Collaborative Methods, Summer 2009. Friday, August 14, 2009. It has finally rained. After about three months of record dryness, wet stuff fell from the sky. Just as the sun seems to spur joyful growth from the plants, rain has a similar effect. After the rains my stunted sage plant gleefully put on new growth. My squash is now over 6 feet long. However in a food garden, rain is not always enough and irrigation becomes necessary. Yet the state of our water system is dire. Much of what I am learning in thi...

Collaborative Methods, Summer 2009. Saturday, August 8, 2009. Busy, busy, bee and Gardening with All Beings. I admit, I sought after her book with one question in mind, which lead me to skip the first five chapters and go straight to “Chapter 6: Gardening with all Beings,” it's sub-title could be essentially “Zen Pest Management.” I wondered how would someone who dedicated their life to awareness, openness and non-violence approach the pest issue? Friday, August 7, 2009. There's a new post. And the first...

Collaborative Methods, Summer 2009. Saturday, August 22, 2009. Abandon Any Hope of Fruit. The inspiration behind this weeks' post comes not from any of my garden books, but actually from a little buddhist nun named Pema Chodron, who changed my life with her simple and light hearted teachings on compassion. What do I do with myself? So what does this have to do with gardening? I don't know. What do you think? Orginally posted on growfoodfeedspirit.blogspot.com). Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Collaborative Methods, Summer 2009. Friday, August 28, 2009. Climate Change and National Parks. What are some of the effects climate change could have on our national parks? Why is it important to understand these impacts and what does it mean for our future enjoyment of these places? How will it impact the flora and fauna, our hydrologic cycle, or our air quality? It is a relatively easy determination to make because it is already happening. Here are some examples of the effects:. 61485; Global temperat...

In this bread, we are thankful for the abundance of the earth. Grain that was once green, dies and can be transformed into bread and sustains us throughout the winter. Collaborative Methods, Summer 2009. Saturday, July 18, 2009. Over the course of the last few months I've come across the term, Anima Mundi, latin for World Soul. It peaked my curiosity and I decided to do a little research. Anima Mundi's meaning is very literal- this world, actually this universe, has a soul. It was first directly mentioned by Plato in his writing, Timeaus. Marcus Aurelius also spoke a. Bout it beautifully in his Meditations. Beliefs contend that the whole universe possesses a mind or co...

Collaborative Methods, Summer 2009. Thursday, July 23, 2009. All the true vows
. 8232;the ones we speak out loud. 8232;are the ones we break. 8232;
There is only one life. 8232;you can call your own. 8232;and a thousand others. 8232;you can call by any name you want. 8232;
Hold to the truth you make. 8232;every day with your own body,. 8232;don't turn your face away. 8232;
Hold to your own truth. At the center of the image. 8232;you were born with. 8232;
Those who do not understand
. You see in the water.
