Bill`s Great War.: March 2009
http://billsgreatwar.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Lt VNH Gardam in the Palestine Campaign. 1916- 1917. Dad was already fifty-two when I was born in England in1942 - the last of five children- and his wartime experiences as a young man during the First World War in Egypt and Palestine was way back in the past by then. A few expressions from that early time: "Pass the zibda! My father was fighting on holy ground and added his footprints to the rest. First the Pharaoh, then Alexander the Great, and then my Dad! When he found a grav...

The Arndt Gardams: September 2008
http://thegardamarndts.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Dale, Anne, Sarah and Margot's adventures. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. A visit to the park and a first haircut. Although we have a little slide in the backyard it doesn't compare to the 'slide' (her term for the playground). Here are a few pictures of Sarah at her favourite place - the park up the road from our house. Sarah likes to do circles around objects like poles, trees, etc. I think she likes the dizzy feeling. . Sarah has an imaginary friend named Ella and Ella loves being pushed in the swing.

The Arndt Gardams: January 2010
http://thegardamarndts.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Dale, Anne, Sarah and Margot's adventures. Monday, January 11, 2010. Sarah's birthday and Hallowe'en. Sarah had a pirate themed party this year - to celebrate the fact that she's wearing a patch. We had 6 of her friends here and we made a pirate hat and decorated it, had a treasure hunt and played some games. Pirate cake. I was trying for blue-ish water but it just didn't work out. So we went with green.more Caribbean-like anyway. Sarah and her stack of presents. What a lucky girl! 3 Arndts and a Gardam.

The Arndt Gardams: Bummpa and Nana's visit
http://thegardamarndts.blogspot.com/2009/10/bummpa-and-nanas-visit.html
Dale, Anne, Sarah and Margot's adventures. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Bummpa and Nana's visit. Nana and Bummpa came for a visit for Dale's birthday and Thanksgiving. They have the worst luck - every time they come to visit the weather is crappy! For Thanksgiving dinner we put Margot in her high chair. She's getting very interested in what we do at the table! 3 Arndts and a Gardam. A mighty fine T-shirt there Dalio! October 16, 2009 at 10:12 PM. I hope she is feeling better these days. Dragongate: August 2014

DRAGONGATE. - An opening to creative perception. Monday, August 11, 2014. In Camera. Using the camera menu to create snappy imagery. I have become aware that many amateur photographers are using in-camera menu operations to add a little zip to their shared imagery. Fun, playful fun: and perhaps that is more interesting in the end and has more creative potential than the earnest but dull family photos and documentation of trips that have been the common product of the camera since the photo world began.

Dragongate: Ferry landing. Finding the interesting shots and telling a story.

DRAGONGATE. - An opening to creative perception. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Ferry landing. Finding the interesting shots and telling a story. The last ferry of the day arrives at Fulford Harbour. I have a few minutes to wait for the bus to arrive and my camera is in my hand. What would make this commonplace and dark scene interesting? I imagine several possibilities and settle for a very slow shutter speed and low iso and pan with the traffic flow. Now this is more like it! And of course more thoughts and...

Dragongate: July 2014

DRAGONGATE. - An opening to creative perception. Thursday, July 24, 2014. Revolting ideas in photography. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. The camera places itself between subject matter and the photographer. Yes well, that would seem obvious, but what is not noticed somehow is how intrusive the computer program is that supplies 'trouble-free' picture making. Today I experimented with shooting manually, just like in the 'old days' and the first thing I noticed is that I could choose not.

Dragongate: May 2014

DRAGONGATE. - An opening to creative perception. Friday, May 16, 2014. In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,. I found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,. Spreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,. To please the desert and the sluggish brook. The purple petals fallen in the pool. Made the black water with their beauty gay;. Here might the red-bird come his plumes to cool,. And court the flower that cheapens his array. If the sages ask thee why. This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,. The inte...
