Trees Walking: February 2009
http://trees-walking.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 13 February 2009. We met last night in the pub again - it was quieter, but somehow the chance for sharing more intimate and private issues is more limited. The music was quieter but still not quiet enough. A new venue is needed or a request to turn the music off is needed. We talked about some very pertinent issues:. What is prayer. How do we pray? 2 God is in us. We are God's prayers. 3 What is church for? Are answer to someone else's. This led onto what was church for and here there was some di...

Trees Walking: September 2008
http://trees-walking.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 September 2008. At last, September 1st has been and gone. I've moved into the manse; started to understand more about what it means to be a Methodist minister in a rural location; learning the ropes and discovering the people in my three churches plus those in the other six in the circuit. So where do my people for a 'church' for the too busy come from? I'm re-thinking this whole idea.is it a good idea? However, where will the people for this new community come from? Not really. I don't ...

By Pine and Gilmore he draws on the point that we are in the transformation business. He asks us to consider the question, 'What is the product that the church is offering to the world'? The question he poses is how much confidence (faith) do we have in the transformational process? Thursday, 19 March 2009. My concern is that this does not become a traditional house g...

Thursday, 19 March 2009. And their daily office. I'll find out tomorrow how we have got on with it. This group seem to be very reflective and so things suggested take time to be 'digested'. Trees Walking: June 2008
http://trees-walking.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 15 June 2008. It's been more than a month now since my last post. Not surprising really since very little is planned to happen before September 1st. But that's my issue: Time and Control. In our lives of perpetual motion there has to be time to stop to listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying; giving up control for the Trinity to have their say. So do I say, 'right this is what. Am going to do'? Or 'this is what. Have decided to do'? Or 'this is what. Has said we should do'? My only limitation at...

Trees Walking: the end is here
http://trees-walking.blogspot.com/2009/04/end-is-here.html
Wednesday, 29 April 2009. The end is here. As you will have noticed, I have not blogged about these until now and this is, in part, because of the guidelines we set at the first meeting - that these issues we discuss are private and not for publication. The group quickly knew what it didn't want to happen but not so keen to discuss what it did want. This hasn't happened for two reasons:. I am, in truth, finding it hard to say exactly why I can't divulge too much. You see, the trouble with Boomers is ...

Trees Walking: Tomorrow
http://trees-walking.blogspot.com/2009/03/tomorrow.html
Thursday, 19 March 2009. So now I have a problem. With no formal leadership structure and our arranged speaker not coming, what do we do tomorrow? I'm keen to discover what we think about spirituality. Many people I meet (who are willing to talk meaningfully about church) complain that church is not the place where you meet God. Perhaps we could discuss this. The theological reflection was based on discovering what God is doing in our lives so this also needs to be looked at at some time.
