Brain Floaties: February 2006
http://brainfloaties.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 24, 2006. The more I think about it some days, the more life doesn’t seem to make any sense. It’s completely random and uncertain. At any given moment the unexpected can happen and the next moment it can happen again and turn every thing inside out. The moment you give up on something you’ve been longing for and waiting for is the moment it happens. The day you get arrested for driving under-age and under-the-influence is the same day your sister has her first baby girl. I don’t like the...

Brain Floaties: June 2007
http://brainfloaties.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 20, 2007. I have been looking for a new church in the area that I just moved into, and this morning I was contemplating the differences between denominations. Disclaimer: I do not fancy myself a biblical scholar or a theologian. No one comes to the Father except through me. How can we be predestined and called at the same time?

A daily celebration of the triumph of Jesus Christ and the people whom I love. Saturday, April 29, 2006. I have been cultivating the habit of reading daily from the Bible. Sometimes, I can only read for a few minutes; other times, I have read for a full hour. Of the New Testament. Perhaps due to my Catholic upbringing, the scene is easy for me to visualize: the aging priest, alone, burning incense on a barren altar ("all the worshippers were outside", reads v.10) when the angel Gabriel. For all things ar...

A daily celebration of the triumph of Jesus Christ and the people whom I love. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. August 11, Part 2: Meeting Gerry Adams. While I was silently meditating, a buzz passed through the crowd, and Brian (not Brian McKee, but Brian, the young priest who traveled with us and said some of our Masses) said that Gerry Adams, the leader of Sinn Fein and rumored onetime IRA member, had arrived. He asked me, mindful of my political interests, "Would you like to meet Gerry Adams? I felt great ...
