Swift Variables and Constants. June 21, 2015. One of the nice features of the Swift Programming Language is that the compiler performs type checks when your code is compiled. This ensures that you do not assign a value that does not match your variables type. Compile time type checks make it such that you do not have to explicitly name the type of your variable during declaration. This makes declaring variables in Swift quite easy.
