I suspect “under God”, “In God we trust”, and placing our hand on a bible, are practices that could leave those who do not believe in a God feeling outside the obligations associated with these sentiments and practices. I am not suggesting Atheists and other non-mainstream-God faithful are lacking morals, only that we are expecting them to pay homage to something they do not believe in.
