Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Wednesday, Nov. 19. Karen is on the road to recovery, so what better activity than a little hiking? Doi Inthanon is a national park encompassing the highest peak in Thailand. Although we took a walk on a trail there, when we visited some royal chedis where various relics and ashes are stored, we couldn't see a thing because of fog. Pea soup! Egg boiled with pork in a special sauce that turns the eggwhite brown. For dessert, he brought kanom sai. The food sounds so delicious!

Monday, November 17, 2008. Finally, a quiet oasis. Monday, Nov. 17 (later still). I splurged on a foot massage for $2.80. Felt divine. Massage places are all over; I picked one in a monastery. Karen made it into town for dinner and the night market. Hard to believe the goods are different from Vietnam and Cambodia . . . but they are. I've loved reading about your adventures.
