Timothy Horn

Friday, November 28, 2014. Sedona Workshop, November 2014. I taught a 3-day workshop in Sedona, Arizona in early November, with 12 students from all over, including a young woman from Alberta! We spent the first day in the classroom, where I did this demonstration painting from what one of the students referred to as a "butt-ugly" photo. For day two, we drove 40 minutes to the historic town of Jerome, which was full of old buildings, perched on a mountainside. The view across the street. Tom hard at work.

Timothy Horn: March 2012

http://timhornpaint.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 29, 2012. This is a demo painting I did last week for a small group of 4 students in what I'm calling "semi-private" lessons. This house in Nicasio has been painted a thousand times I'm sure, but this is my first. As you can see, it was overcast, but fortunately not raining. Go Left 9x12". One day I drove around town for 20 minutes looking for something to paint, came home, and ended up painting this just down the street from my house. Spruce and Park 10x12". Sunday, March 4, 2012.

Timothy Horn: July 2012

http://timhornpaint.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 6, 2012. Can't believe it's been a month since I last posted. Summers are busy! I taught another workshop in China Camp last week which went very well. Perfect weather and an exceptionally nice group. Here are a few quick demonstration paintings I did during the workshop. This was the first one - about 6x11". This was the second demo. In backlit scenes like this one, the lighting stays fairly consistent during a short painting period. 9x12" sold. I just did this one today. I've been so b...

Timothy Horn: June 2012

http://timhornpaint.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 8, 2012. I had seen some of them in books, but in person. . . it was a religious experience. After that, a few hours at the Met in the new American Wing and my optical nerve was happily toasted. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Awesome Inc. template. Powered by Blogger.

Timothy Horn: April 2012

http://timhornpaint.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 26, 2012. This is from a photo I took while driving back from the Knowlton Gallery recently. There are so many hills around where I live that it's rare I get to see the sun actually hit the horizon when it's supposed to. This will be for sale at the upcoming MALT show. "Eclipse" 12x16" sold. Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Ranches and Rolling HIlls. Last Saturday my family and I went to the Crocker Museum in Sacramento to see the Edgar Payne show "The Scenic Journey". WOW!

Thursday, November 1, 2012. October workshop in Taos. This was the first painting location for the workshop in Taos. We had perfect weather, with beautiful fall color in the trees. Seco Yellow, 8x10". Afternoon truck demo by popular demand. Seco Truck, 9x12" sold. In progress . . . Penasco Yellow, 9x12".

And took in the John Singer Sargent watercolors exhibition, which combined the collections of the Brooklyn Museum and MFA. Boston should be proud of being called home to such a great painter with permanent artworks installed around the city. This was an amazing show worthy of however many modes of transportation it took to be drenched in the sunlight of a ...

A Canvas a Day - Eric Larson. Waking up dormant artistic aptitude by painting as often as possible. Tuesday, December 27, 2016. 84 - Family Farm. Oil on canvas 48" x 36". This painting has been keeping me busy for a couple months. I've posted smaller iterations of this scene which led up to this bigger painting. I have never painted such a big painting and actually really enjoyed dealing with each section in detail. I have the online mentoring of Kim Casebeer. To thank for any success I might have had.
