Upward Over The Mountain: December 2012
http://jonharrisons.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Upward Over The Mountain. Sunday, December 16, 2012. I've realized this week that I am very much driven by results. I like to have tangible, maybe statistical, evidence that I am progressing in some way, be it as an athlete or as a person. Run We then realize that there will always. Be someone faster than us. But, HA! Progress can continue, because regardless of how fast everyone else may be, I can always become faster than that other "me". Saturday, December 8, 2012. I had wanted to do this at some poin...

Upward Over The Mountain: March 2013
http://jonharrisons.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Upward Over The Mountain. Friday, March 29, 2013. From The Mountains To The Sea. There's a kind of luck that's not much more than being in the right place at the right time, a kind of inspiration that's not much more than doing the right thing in the right way, and both only really happen to you when you empty your heart of ambition, purpose, and plan; when you give yourself to the golden, fate-filled moment.". A Character in the book I'm reading. Beginning at Adam's house, a couple of miles off the Moun...

Upward Over The Mountain: Late Summer
http://jonharrisons.blogspot.com/2013/08/late-summer_30.html
Upward Over The Mountain. Friday, August 30, 2013. Life has been a whirlwind of joy lately. I've found myself saying, "It sure feels like fall out here", quite frequently. I guess it's about time I accepted that summer is winding down and breathe in the colors of the autumn in Colorado. These are a few things that I've engaged in the past month:. I went to Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario (west of Lake Superior), with a wonderful group of people. Me, Anna, Matthew, Rachel, Bill, Drew, and Paul, my dad.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Some VerticALE Mile photos. Sunday, January 8, 2012. VerticALE quick wrap up. All I can say is watch out Slim. You don't tug on Superman's cape. You don't spit in the wind. You don't pull the mask off a ole' Lone Ranger. And you don't mess around with Tim. Went 11:58 followed by. All on a 663' mile with the last quarter (run with 48 oz of PBR in our bellies) being a 253' fell climb in the dense fog - absolutely perfect for this fun run! Our top 5's total time was 1:09:24! It wi...

Upward Over The Mountain: September 2012

Upward Over The Mountain. Sunday, September 30, 2012. Devil Mountain 50k Recap. The race had nearly ideal organization and atmosphere, and all proceeds from entry fees went directly to GECKO (Giving Every Child Knowledge of the Outdoors), which is based in Pagosa and provides scholarships for individuals who hope to participate in NOLS courses and the likes. The following scenario may be a little TMI, and I'm sorry if it is, but I feel the need to share in hopes that it will never happen to you! An unsha...

Upward Over The Mountain: October 2012
http://jonharrisons.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Upward Over The Mountain. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Week In Review 10/22-10/28: Boulder Basic. I ran both further and faster than I typically do on my runs this past week. The body feels strong and has recovered better than anticipated. I'm excited for runs to come, most notably the week I'll spend in the Seattle area/Olympic Peninsula in early November! Its always a blast to get out with a group of friends and familiar faces (many of whom had patronized the coffee shop at somepoint this summer). The las...

Upward Over The Mountain: July 2013
http://jonharrisons.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Upward Over The Mountain. Monday, July 22, 2013. Ellingwood Ridge- La Plata Traverse. We left the La Plata trailhead around 8:00 feeling quite giddy with the prospects of the excursion at hand (and under foot). We jogged the jeep road .3 miles to the singletrack. Trickiness ensued. Hoping off rocks, swinging on branches, I even had the gumption to execute a front handspring, which I will probably never do again whilst wearing a hydration pack. Travis and Mike talusing. Travis, soaking it all in. I hope t...

Upward Over The Mountain. Monday, August 27, 2012. Week In Review 8/20-8/26: New Kicks and Gore Range Recon. I don't know if its merely coincidence or if it gave a bonafied boost to my morale, but after getting a new pair of New Balance MT1010s in the mail, I returned to normal (whatever that means). Either way, in the three runs I've had in the new kicks they have worked flawlessly. I look forward to testing them out on some longer runs on the Run Rabbit Run course this week. 475 miles, 8 hours, 7,000 ft.
