Engraved On His Hands: July 2011
http://engravedonhishands.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. We tend to think that if Jesus Christ compels us to do something and we are obedient to Him, He will lead us to great success. We should never have the thought that our dreams of success are God’s purpose for us. - Oswald Chambers. I've spent a lot of time lately telling myself "It's only a season, it's only a season." But dependency isn't a season. It is my life. And I think I'd better get used to that, instead of fighting to prove that I can do it all by myself, and...If I can ...

Engraved On His Hands: The God Who Sees
http://engravedonhishands.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-god-who-sees.html
Wednesday, November 14, 2012. The God Who Sees. Today is just one of those days when raw emotion teeters on a knife blade in my heart. Everyone I see and touch has felt pain and it slices through me with every greeting. It is one of those days when I am exceptionally aware of the brokenness of the world. Disease, pain, death stalking every life. Like broken china, the sharp edges of life leave me gasping in pain and marveling that something so beautiful can be so sharp. Then he showed me a river of the w...

Engraved On His Hands: Kissing my to-do list goodbye.
http://engravedonhishands.blogspot.com/2013/08/kissing-my-to-do-list-goodbye.html
Tuesday, August 06, 2013. Kissing my to-do list goodbye. As moms do we believe in a false gospel? A gospel of "shoulds"? Do we think that our worth as women is tied to how clean our house is, how obedient are children are, or anything other than Christ and His perfection? Are we driving ourselves to meet some inner standard or to avoid the disdain of certain other women we know? Are we at the brink of exhaustion, collapse, and despair because we can't keep up with a perceived standard? Anything to Christ...

Engraved On His Hands: Kicking Against the Pricks
http://engravedonhishands.blogspot.com/2012/11/kicking-against-pricks.html
Saturday, November 10, 2012. Kicking Against the Pricks. As I wander through the kitchen for a drink, I'm drawn to the window by the sound of shrieking. Not a pain cry, but one of sheer frustration. My two year daughter is sitting on a chair in the back yard, her feet danging bare in 40 degree weather. "Put your shoes on! My husband calls over the roar of the lawn mower. More sobs. No movement to obey. The sharpness of the cold matched by the hardness of a heart. Whoever believes in Him will not be.

Bull;December 14, 2009 • 1 Comment. There’s something I find totally awesome about finding a new, little known band, and really digging their sound. I’m always on the lookout for new photographers and their work, and while I’ve recently found about 3 new photographers that I LOVE, there’s still something about finding that sound… Nothing really compares. Today, I randomly came across this guy/band: www.myspace.com/dannyboyc. Bull;December 6, 2009 • 2 Comments. Spirit vs. Flesh. Do you know what I mean?

I am young. I have a million options of what to do with my life. And it’s easy for me to pick whatever feels good. Whatever I like at the moment. Whatever I am comfortable with. I recently saw a blog post that inspired me. It made me think seriously about my life. What kind of “career” will I have? Will I be impacting other’s lives? Will I be inspiring others? By a photographer/missionary who went back to Haiti and serve as a translator for a few weeks. The photos are…well, inspiring.

Christian Books > the Bible? | Russiaugusta

Christian Books the Bible? The conversation went something like this:. Me: I’m so glad we got a chance to catch up. You’re always such an encouragement to me. I’m so glad to have you to keep me accountable. It definitely keeps me consistent in my devotions, and I’m learning a lot. B: By the way, I’m reading this really good book on fasting. I’ll give it to you once I’m done reading it. It’s really great, you’re going to love it. Me: Sweet, thanks! Torchered for His Faith. Has made me realize devotion to ...

A slap in the face. | Russiaugusta

A slap in the face. I’ve got a love/hate relationship with exhortation. On the other hand, there’s the type of exhortation that no matter how lovingly it is given just strikes you with such force that you’re speechless. You’re left with a blank look on your face and thoughts running around in your head screaming, “Why didn’t I see this coming? 8221; The proverbial slap in the face. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? Give no sleep to your eyes,.
