Bio | Timothy Rousseau
http://www.timothyrousseau.com/about/bio
I divide my time between building furniture at my home work-shop in Appleton, Maine and teaching furniture-making at The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. In 2002 I returned to Maine and took a position as the Center’s resident instructor. Over the course of the following years I transitioned back to building furniture full time, and into annually leading the fall 12-week program along with co-teaching the chair-making component of the 9-month course at the Center.

This is the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. I have been teaching here since 1999, and is where I first learned the craft of furniture making myself. It is an amazing place with faculty and students from all over the world. I have been one of the longest serving teachers on the faculty to date, and feel very grateful for the exposure to the exceptional makers and students who have passed through the Center over the years. Images of some students’ work that was done in my courses can be seen Here.

Stuart C. Blanchard. These words, written by Wendell Berry in his book. The Art of The Commonplace,. Express my reflections on design and quality of work. I have found that beautiful and useful work requires attention to at least three areas noted below. Coffee Table (a traditional form downsized for another use). Bookcase (with very restrained Federal details). Second, while appreciating the rich tradition of the past, it is not enough to simply reproduce that furniture (unless, of course, a reproduction.
