Knitting, Sewing and Multiple Myeloma. Back in The Royal. May 31, 2012. One of the kidney docs called round this morning took one look at me and offered help with dialysis. It took place within the hour and then he came back later and said due to the risk of infection I could have a couple of days off anyway. And I’m so parched I’m sure I could watch a Titanic documentary and think as they hit the sea ‘the jammy so and sos all that cold cold water and ice! This entry was posted in Kidneys. http://viviennesmith.blogspot.com/2015/07/wednesday-22nd-july.html
Our Multiple Myeloma Meanderings. How it all started. Wednesday, 22nd July. So those little buggers (platelets) are slowly coming up. Jimmy's white blood cell count is at 6.5, this being the highest it has been since he was diagnosed, except of course when he was on Neupogen injections to boost his wbc. His red blood cell count is slightly low and his haemoglobin is now in the normal parameters. Some family photos taken at the Diaz Tavern. A testament as to just how well Jimmy is looking. http://viviennesmith.blogspot.com/2015/05/thursday-7th-may.html
Our Multiple Myeloma Meanderings. How it all started. Good morning, says me at 11:45 and still in my pyjamas. I went to the Dr yesterday and have a bad bout of Bronchitis. Suppose this had to happen at some stage or the other.I've been pushing my body for far too long. Jimmy had his bloods done again yesterday and his platelets have now dropped to 17 so he went into the clinic this morning on his way to work to have a platelet transfusion. Hopefully this one kicks in nicely and pushes his count up. Plate...

http://viviennesmith.blogspot.com/2015/06/friday-5th-june.html
Our Multiple Myeloma Meanderings. How it all started. Friday, 5th June. I just thought I would let you know that Jimmy went to have his bloods done today and his platelets have dropped further so he needs to go in on Tuesday morning for a bone marrow biopsy. Hopefully this will get to the bottom of where these little buggers are disappearing to. It's still freezing in Cape Town with lots of snow fall on the mountain ranges in the Western Cape and specially in the Eastern Cape, Kwazulu-Natal and Lesotho.

HOW TO MOVE A MOUNTAIN. Learning to navigate the challenges of multiple myeloma, motherhood, and life while enjoying the view from the top. December 26, 2014. As Christmas approaches, I want to take this opportunity to give an update on how I am doing and reflect on my life over the past several years. I wish I could take a magic wand and wave it over me six years ago filling me with the knowledge of the future I am living today. I actually can go several days without even thinking about cancer! I know f...

HOW TO MOVE A MOUNTAIN. Learning to navigate the challenges of multiple myeloma, motherhood, and life while enjoying the view from the top. How to Move a Mountain lyrics. How To Move A Mountain. When I was young I heard the stories. About the people who could. And every now and then, someone would tell me. I could do the same if I believed. So one summer night. I looked out my window. And I closed my eyes. And listened to the wind blow. And I tried to move a mountain. I wished for it to crumble at my feet.
