This is our Teardrop Build Page. My intention is to show images and describe my build process, thoughts and lessons learned. I also will include the actual cost. And provide links where possible for information or sources as they relate to the build. It was by accident, as most great adventures, that we decided to own/build a teardrop camper. My wife and I discussed what we both wanted/needed in our Teardrop and there were 4 things/items that we agreed on:. It must be simple and easy. So, here we go.

This image shows the bottom of the deck. They bottom completely undercoated. 3/4" insulation glued and screwed to the bottom of the deck. Not shown in this image: I made a galvanized metal box that went over the wooden box (right side of image). I undercoated the metal box. 3 each 2x4x8 (The best they had). 1 sheet 3/4" Pink Foam Insulation. 3 each PT Lattice Strips. 1 each 15/32 4x8 Exterior Plywood. 1 gal Roof and Foundation Coating (used for undercoat). 3/16 x 1 1/4" Fender Washers (for insulation).

Where to build Tincaninn? I called in a favor from another friend, CJ. CJ is man of many talents. He showed up with a truck, trailer, and some manual labor. All in all, this probably was and will be the most challenging part of this project. I will say that it was moved without incident! Good job by all. I do not have any pictures of the move after we got started. I am sure that if we had a video, it would have gone viral on YouTube. This is were we started. Notice the "Tin" roof. I sense a theme here.

So, what did our Teardrop cost? I don't know, but we will find out as the project proceeds. I am listing the cost of each item without sales tax or shipping and rounding up to the nearest whole dollar. I have two 'list' for the cost. On each build page, I will list the cost of the items that I used. On this page, I will list 'general' material and those items that didn't get listed on a build page. And Finally, I will list on this page a 'Totals' page. 100 each 1/4 x 1" Drywall Screws.
