Mary and Jim's Big Adventure. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. My sister, Joy Rhoades, came for a visit, got to see 2/3 of the South Island and we threw in a magnitude 6.3 earthquake to boot! We took advantage of good weather and opportunities as they came up. We did some sailing, a fair amount of shopping and saw all kinds of wildlife:. Fur Seals, thousands of sheep, Weka (under-brush wood hen), Kea (wild mountain parrots), Hector Dolphins, penguins, kiwi and eels! Mt Cook, Milford, Bluff, Moraki Boulders.
