Yachats Board and Train, October 2010. Friday, October 8, 2010. Day 2: TRaining Day. Tintin worked hard today. It was raining so we trained a lot indoors, but we also practiced recall outside, hiked and played games. Today Tintin even made up his own recall game - dashing madly across the meadow to bug Ranger by jumping at his head, then zooming back to me when I called, for more games and treats. He did this about 10 times before he got tired of it and we moved on to something else. Look what I found!

Yachats Board and Train, October 2010. Monday, October 4, 2010. Day 5: Stay Day. Training today focused on relaxation, impulse control/frustration tolerance. We started off with focused Stay training with various distances, durations and distractions. This is hard for Tintin, he is young and energetic and staying put isn't on his Favorites List. But he did well - he managed a Down Stay for up to 20 seconds, and with me going out of sight behind a closed door. Hiking through old growth forest.

A hike was first on his list of things to do. Chanterelle hunting in the forest. Considering his next move. Next some ball play - something familiar forTintin, and the way to many a terrier's heart. So many smells to enjoy! Now for some recall practice. Good, aren't I? In the dog world, possession is 10/10s of the law.

Yachats Board and Train, October 2010. Friday, October 1, 2010. Day 10: Last Full Day. The day dawned fair as ever - what amazing weather Tintin brought with him. So we did plenty of outdoor activity as well as indoor reviewing of everything he has learned. This is Karolin and her dog, Lilly, a mini Australian Shepherd. I forgot to take pictures of Karolin working with Tintin, I was too busy admiring him as he performed like a trooper! Karolin and her dog, Lilly. Yikes, Lilly, you're even faster than me!

The day began with a series of training sessions that reviewed previous learning and took things further.Tintin seems to be enjoying these sessions, especially when he has something new to get stuck into. Today for fun we were working on Spin! As well as all the things we had done the day before. We also moved on to the third segment of the relaxation/deference protocol. Tintin opens a drawer and gets some treats.
