Not Another Wine Blog. A novice's journey into the world of wine. Monday, December 10, 2007. Gutturnio at Via Emilia. This past weekend, I celebrated my friend Adam's birthday at Via Emilia. For $20.99. You may not have heard of Gutturnio, but it is yet another esoteric Italian wine that is well worth trying. Posted by Eddie Howard. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The back of the bottle tells me that it is composed of 50% Marsanne grapes and 50% Viognier grapes and that the wine has been aged for 10 months in tanks. Apples predominated. I also smelled hints of lemon and fresh-cut grass. TN: 2007 J...

Not Another Wine Blog. A novice's journey into the world of wine. Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Essential Wine Websites for Newbies. I have always wondered what it must have been like to be a wine drinker before the Internet era. How did people research wines back then? How did they track of wines in their cellars? How did they compare prices? It must have been hard times for wine drinkers before the Internet existed. How did wine snobs keep track of their inventories? Thank heavens for the Internet! In the...

Not Another Wine Blog. A novice's journey into the world of wine. Monday, November 26, 2007. Cyber Monday and Proper Stemware. Since I had to keep my purchase a good deal, I selected the free Super Saver Shipping Option from Amazon, so who knows when I will actually receive the glasses and try them out. But I will definitely report back- I think the first wine in my new glasses will have to be a Cabernet. What are your thoughts on wine glasses? Is it really worth it to invest in good ones? In my mind, Ca...

Drink and Be Mary. Rioja Class at Brooklyn Wine Exchange. I’m lucky to live in Carroll Gardens near Brooklyn Wine Exchange. Maybe this just wasn’t the producer or vintage for me, so I picked up something different. A few months ago, Chef and I went to Corkbuzz and tasted a 2003 R. López de Heredia Viña Gravonia Crianza that I loved, so I picked up a bottle of the 2001 to try (another of the 2003 is already chilling out at home). We’ll see how it compares to the more recent vintage! January 13, 2013.

Apple Juice: October 2010

Thursday, October 28, 2010. Friend of the Week: Nick Carcaterra. I am seriously behind on "friend of the week"- not because my friends have been mediocre-quite the opposite- the delay is due to social calendar overload and some serious competition to reach F.O.W.). Labels: Friend of the Week. Although I detest Pacha NYC. Love it anywhere in Spain (even the website advertises it as Europe's most exclusive nightclub come to NY), I am thinking about making an appearance there 12/3 for David Guetta's. If you...
