Wednesday, December 14, 2011. My sister-in-law sent me this story. The other day. Having a daughter named Sophia, I had to read it. I am reluctant to overly encourage and share Princess stuff with Sophia. I prefer her to watch the more neutral movies and TV programs like Winnie the Pooh, Cat in the Hat, Fireman Sam. Etc and if we are going to watch a movie I'm glad she will pick Cars over a princess. You are not going to be teaching my daughter much to relate to. There aren't a lot of sparkly new dresses...

Whisk together the following in a bowl:. 1 tsp white wine vinegar. 1 tbls pure maple syrup. 1 tbls stone ground mustard. Add to the marinade:. 5 - 6 scallions, minced, white and light green parts only. 2 small celery ribs, diced. 2 hard boiled eggs - diced. 1 - 2 tbls minced sweet pickles. 2 -3 tbls minced fresh dill weed. Sea salt to taste.

Barley soup w/ porcinis and dill. 1/2 cup drained porcini shrooms, soaked in 1 cup very hot water for 20 minutes. 1 tbls olive oil. 6 shallots, chopped. 1 carrot, grated. 1 cup pearl barley. 5 cups veg stock or mushroom stock. I love getting together with hubby's Minnesota friends.
