Tiny Trailer Living on the Road or Not. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Celebrating Pride in San Francisco. June 30, 2015. We were very fortunate to be in San Francisco on the last Sunday of June. This is typically when the Gay Pride Parade happens each year. This year was extra special for those of us who have gay children, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents or friends. Thank you SCOTUS! I can of no place I would rather have been on this day. :). Ground Round Grill and Bar.

Home Again – rambillon
https://rambillon.wordpress.com/2014/09/29/home-again
Rambles near and far in Babe, the Big Blue T@da. September 29, 2014. Have you ever been somewhere that felt like your true home? I love everything about that section of the Parkway. A place that time has forgotten, and that encourages you to forget about time yourself. Just a few miles north of Rocky Knob cabins is Rocky Knob itself, rolling out vistas that go on for miles. And close by is one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been: Rocky Knob Campground. Just off the Parkway. Enter your comment here.

Rambles near and far in Babe, the Big Blue T@da. Reynolda House and Gardens. October 30, 2014. The exterior of Reynolda’s greenhouse. Or a mature work? But I admit it was amazing to be able to come within touching distance of that particular painting, and many other works by American painters and sculptors ranging from the 18th century to the present. Having retrieved my handbag (“You were here a long time,” declared the museum lady–a little suspiciously I thought–as I returned my...This beautiful founta...

Rambles near and far in Babe, the Big Blue T@da. Babe Goes to Summer Camp. July 15, 2015. View of the Blue Ridge from the Parkway near Glendale Springs, NC. On July 3, we drove part of the Blood, Sweat, and Gears route onto Rte. 194 and happened on Todd, NC, a tiny hamlet located on the New River. At the Todd Mercantile (and Bakery! Some of the outlandish creations that partied in the park. When kids tired of the spectacle they retreated to the banks of the New River for some quality wading. A canoeist p...

Rambles near and far in Babe, the Big Blue T@da. The Learning Curve is Gradual. July 14, 2016. An unusual looking wasp (? Tries to carry off a hapless little caterpillar. There was a long dry spell between the BRR and Babe’s next trip, which was to Lake Powhatan in June. What a place! Dad’s new chair. More about said chair later! Moonlight sonata at Lake Powhatan. Mountain laurel at Craggy Pinnacle. Looking back on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Craggy Pinnacle. Wildflowers at Craggy Pinnacle. Once again, t...

On the road…. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Category Archives: great outdoors. Spring in the Smokies. May 20, 2016. It’s the home stretch, baby. Just two more nights in North Carolina, two furious days on the road, and we’ll be back home. My bet is that I’ll be wishing we were back on the road again in about a week. The glow of being home sometimes wears off quickly. We were STILL too early in the season – a huge disappointment. We saw a few meager blossoms. Nearby was an even more ...

On the road…. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. April 21, 2016. It’s been called the Loneliest Highway in America, and whoever coined that phrase sure knew what she was talking about. That’s US 50, running west to east across northern Nevada. In two days, we probably didn’t see 75 cars on the road over about 400 miles. That’s lonely. We stopped to see landmarks for the Pony Express, which ran along this route. Another interesting portion of the Highway, stretching for abo...

Rambles near and far in Babe, the Big Blue T@da. We’re Back in Blue! April 20, 2015. April 20, 2015. Little darlins, it’s been a long cold lonely winter. . .but this past week we finally sprang Babe from her storage spot in preparation for our maiden voyage of 2015. Rain had been forecast for Saturday night, so we knew we had our work cut out for us. This is Chuck and his friend Jeff after last year’s BSG. Chuck spent his blissful hour pedaling on the Parkway and recording his encounter with less domesti...
