Monday, February 14, 2011. Dear Friends and Family,. They had palletized everything, and wrapped the boxes in plastic. It was too much work and too overwhelming for the customs officials to want to go through every single thing! So, Monday, the container arrived at our house on the back of a big flat-bed truck. It was a bustle of activity around here as BJ, Bro. Mickey, and his men unloaded that container in just one hour! My oven is working now all of a sudden so I am back in business with being able to...

News from Kenya: Kenyan culture
http://bjandjessinkenya.blogspot.com/2011/03/kenyan-culture.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Kenyan culture and tradition:. It is a Kenyan tradition to take tea twice a day- once at 10:00 am and again around 4:00 p.m. The teachers at Hekima are convinced that "chai" rejuvenates the minds of their students so that they study better, so "wakati wa chai" (tea time) is incorporated into every class. For us, it is a time to fellowship and a chance to use our Swahili. I love watching the delight on the faces of these Kenyans. When my three-year-old speaks their language!

Saturday, February 26, 2011. Dear Family and Friends,. It has been a while since the last update, but yes, we are still alive and well! I’ve been wanting to sit down and write this for the past week, but it seems that before I get to it, another day is at its end. I stay busy all day with cooking and cleaning, Swahili. Ha Ha But I have a very determined husband, and today he is surrounding his garden with chicken wire! That ought to do the trick . . . hopefully! It would not be respectful in the same way.
