At an early age I discovered art as an escape from a chaotic and frightening home life. I find the human figure universally understandable, and I am able to communicate a lot through it. At the age of six, Deane 'Dutch' Benninghoven created 10 Play-Doh figures and got paid 10 bucks. From that day he was determined to be a sculptor, and although the pay scale hasn’t changed much, he has found a world of delight in creating all kinds of things. Lack of funds and a surplus of passion have led him on a circuitous path, working in architectural sculpture, ornamental plaster, monumental sculpture, museum exhibitry, watchmaking, anaplastology, and green product development.
