The Royals cleared $3 million in payroll space this season when Jeremy Guthrie agreed to a restructure of his deal and just 17 days later, Bruce Chen will quit his step aside from his semi final run on "Last Comic Standing" to return to the Kansas City Royals on a one year pact worth $4.25 million. Royal Revival: July 2014

In the Cross Hairs Series. Saturday, July 5, 2014. Revisiting the Wil Myers Trade. The major reason for this post today is yesterday's blockbuster trade between the Athletics and Cubs. My initial reaction to the trade was 'man, is the Cubs system stacked.' My second thought, I hope this gets Billy Beane a ring. Hitting .298/.386/.521 in 76 games with Tampa Bay's High A team. His 12 homers would be tied for third most in the Royals organization. He is 21 years old. Follow me on Twitter @Landon Adams!

Royal Revival: February 2014
http://royalrevival.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
In the Cross Hairs Series. Friday, February 28, 2014. Breakout on the Horizon. I won't be shy about my feelings regarding the Royals off-season. I love the trade for Nori Aoki and the signing of Omar Infante. I'm really looking forward to watching these two at the top of the order in 2014. The decision to acquire a player like Aoki gives me faith that the Royals have finally embraced Kauffman Stadium. Instead of slow corner outfielders who can "knock in" base runners, they have realized the importanc...

Royal Revival: In the Cross Hairs: Cameron Maybin
http://royalrevival.blogspot.com/2015/07/in-cross-hairs-cameron-maybin.html
In the Cross Hairs Series. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. In the Cross Hairs: Cameron Maybin. Over the next couple of weeks, I hope to take a look at several different players that the Royals could/should target via trade. As I highlighted here. I believe that the Royals should pursue an outfielder at this year's trade deadline. Also, according to Jon Heyman the Royals are actively searching the trade market for outfield help. Royals, pirates among teams looking at outfield help. For his career, Maybin has hit ...

Royal Revival: October 2014
http://royalrevival.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
In the Cross Hairs Series. Friday, October 31, 2014. The Experience was Everything. What an incredible run? I don't even know where to begin. I guess to start let me just say how blessed I am to have gotten to witness such an improbable story about a team that simply refused to quit. For Kansas City the last few weeks have represented so much more than W's on a baseball scorecard. For the city it represented rebirth. What do you think Royals fans? We watch because even if there is an 87% chance that the ...

In the Cross Hairs Series. Monday, July 20, 2015. In the Cross Hairs: Brandon Phillips. The Reds are said to be open for business and on their team there are several intriguing options that could fit for the Kansas City Royals. We've heard a lot about the Royals interest in Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake. Perhaps, there is another name that could catch the Royals' eyes. I'm speaking of the flashy Brandon Phillips. Boasts as a Royal. Here's how Phillips contract breaks down moving forward:. 2016 - $13 million.

Royal Revival: An Ode to Mr. Zoombiya
http://royalrevival.blogspot.com/2014/12/an-ode-to-mr-zoombiya.html
In the Cross Hairs Series. Tuesday, December 16, 2014. An Ode to Mr. Zoombiya. The Royals entered the offseason with three positions to fill. Fans and the front office agreed the team needed to find a right fielder (to replace the departing Nori Aoki. A designated hitter (to replace the departing Billy Butler. And a starting pitcher (to replace the departing James Shields. I'm not going to spend time in this post analyzing the Alex Rios. No, I'm not talking about Carlos Peguero. Since we aren't actually ...

Royal Revival: November 2014
http://royalrevival.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
In the Cross Hairs Series. Monday, November 10, 2014. In the Cross Hairs: Scott Van Slyke. Obviously, when it comes to the Dodgers, I would love if the Royals could get their hands on the Pacific Coast League MVP Joc Pederson, or the dynamic Yasiel Puig. However, I don't think the Royals are pulling back one of the aforementioned players, even if they are moving one of the HDH triumvirate. So another player who is catching my eye is Van Slyke. Unlike many of the free agent options, Van Slyke is a strong ...
