Powerless — Daniel Castro
http://www.danieldanieldaniel.com/powerless
This object was created to explore the temptation of destruction and vandalism of public works of art and commercial spaces. The idea of a hammer is invalidated since a single whack will break the handle. One might get a thrill from its use, but will not ruin the intended target due to it's weakness. A versatile design; it includes a magnet and a knot for quick employment. 2014 Daniel Castro and Tips Collective.

Designed my first year of design school. The creative challenge was to design a common/ "over-designed" household object picked from a hat and inspired by a designer, architect or artist. I chose the artist Egon Schiele. The result is an overtly expressionistic bottle opener was inspired by Schiele's raw artistic vision. 2007. 2014 Daniel Castro and Tips Collective.

Small Door — Daniel Castro
http://www.danieldanieldaniel.com/small-door
Sculpture of a barn yard door. Created at ÉCAL. In 2009. Home accessory. Under the supervision of Christophe Marchand. The students were challenged to design a handle for a banal object. At the time, I was very interested in frame artistry and craft. Frames serve a valuable physical function, yet can provoke a sense of beauty, and of place. For this, my intention was to celebrate the idea of frames. The result was an ode to barn-yard doors. It's simplicity is elegant. Various Double Door sketches.
