Het stemmen van een bandoneon is specialistisch en arbeidsintensief werk. Vóór het stemmen worden alle tongen en stemplaten gecontroleerd op roest, vuil en beschadigingen. In een 142-toons bandoneon zitten 276 tongen, die allemaal individueel gestemd moeten worden. Dat gebeurt door de tong met zeer fijne vijlen bij te slijpen.
