SI 643: The Blog. Tyson's ruminations on SI 643: Professional Practice in Libraries and Information Centers. Sunday, February 5, 2012. This week's readings were all about learning environments and assessment. I have to say I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and discouraged after taking everything in that I found in these readings. They seem to be a reminder of how much work there is to do in the educational world. The chapter of How People Learn. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

SI 643: The Blog. Tyson's ruminations on SI 643: Professional Practice in Libraries and Information Centers. Sunday, March 25, 2012. Our first reading this week was another chapter of How People Learn. What are the first things you can do? This is what I'd want to know. Reading about our webinars made me excited but also nervous. I think it'll be a fun activity but will take a lot of prep time. I think the comments from last year's students will be really helpful. Lots to think about this week.

Do you feel any differently about the move to add ads now that the TPL librarians are on strike? Week of Webinars | Miss Masura

On professional practices in information centers. But webinars do have their place in instruction. They can bring together experts from different places to have great discussions, and I know that it is important for me to know how to run one if the need arises. Overall, I think that the presenters I watched did a great job and showcased some really great topics, and I am looking forward to the last one I will attend on Thursday. 4 thoughts on “ Week of Webinars. Week Ten Class | Miss Masura
https://missmasura.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/week-ten-class
On professional practices in information centers. It’s One-Shot Workshop Week. To be truthful, I liked the book clubs and Socratic seminars a lot better. While some presentations were pretty interactive, our time together felt much more like a normal classroom. The ratio of direct instruction to discussion was, overall, skewed towards direct instruction. But that is the nature of a One-Shot Workshop, I suppose– reel them in, spit them out, and hope that something transferred. March 20, 2012 at 5:30 pm.

Developing a Community Spidey Sense. This post has a librarian embedded in it. Though perhaps a somewhat stereotypical one. Seemed to emphasize that, in order to educate others, a good teacher (or librarian) must have a solid sense of that discipline and its learning strategies. As for webinars, I’m interested to hear what others have to say in class about the ones they chose to watch. I went with aimed at librarians titled “Let’s Get Crazy! Library Programs On and Over the Edge,”. Newer Entry →. My big ...

Twitter as a Tool. Well, this is the week we all officially joined Twitter. I’ve already been on Twitter for a little while (as you may have noticed from the feed on the side of the page), but I will link to mine anyway for the sake of this post and assignment. Follow me on Twitter! I’m not sure what exactly to respond to in a blog about Twitter posting, so I will talk a little about the site itself and what I think of it as a service to be used by librarians. So I joined twitter this fall, but have not really used it. This week for class was the first time I had really used twitter for a chance to look at what is going on in libraryland.
