Kate was born on October 20, 1981. On April 25, 2008 she went to the hospital with her cousin Kelly, after experiencing a severe dizzy spell. An MRI uncovered a brain tumor, later diagnosed as medullo blastoma. On April 27, 2008, following surgery that lasted more than a dozen hours Kate was brain dead. After the initial shock of Kate’s tragic loss, her family and friends began to think about ways in which we could celebrate the wonderful person Kate was, and how to complete her legacy in a way that would truly honor her memory. This was not difficult as she was a very loving and giving person. Thus, The Kate Tschernoletz Foundation was formed in 2008. Since that time, TKTF has been able to make significant donations to the Sunrise Day Camp and many other worthy organizations (see below).
