Advent Calendar of Christmas Memories – Holiday Foods | MS Roots

https://tmailhes.wordpress.com/2011/12/02/advent-calendar-of-christmas-memories-holiday-foods

December 2, 2011. Advent Calendar of Christmas Memories – Holiday Foods. Filed under: family history. 8212; by tmailhes @ 3:32 am. The Hill family loves to eat. The holidays only gave us an excuse to gorge ourselves without guilt. There were the holiday get-togethers. These were small events where we usually had ribs and macaroni and cheese with a variety of snack foods. I liked these little parties because my mom made my favorite party food – shrimp dip with crackers. Leave a Comment ». You are commenti...

November 26, 2011. Don’t Shoot, Aunt Thelma! 8212; by tmailhes @ 3:51 am. This is Robert Hathorn’s story. So on to cousin Robert’s story…. It was late, late round about two o’clock. I didn’t have enough gas to make it home so I pulled in to Aunt Thelma’s. I cut off the car lights and eased the car down the road to just in front of the carport. I walked up into the shed, turned on the light, got the gas can and walked out. Didn’t think nothing about it. I’m putting the gas in the tank and BAMM! 8221; I ge...

December 17, 2011. Estate of SB Hathorn – 2 November 1860. Filed under: african american genealogy. Covington County, MS. 8212; by tmailhes @ 9:13 pm. Finally, I received a roll of film of Probate Records from Marion County, MS. There was a notation in a book of abstracts of wills from Covington County stating that SB Hathorn had died intestate and that additional documentation could be found in Marion County. I was hoping for a mention of my 3rd great-grandmother, Mahala, in the documentation. You are c...

November 29, 2011. The land records of Isaac Hathorn. 8212; by tmailhes @ 4:13 am. Tags: Covington County MS. I am up way past my bedtime this evening measuring the size of rock candy. It’s a science fair project for my procrastinating daughter. While I was waiting for the alarm to go off to signal the final measuring of the evening, I decided to input some information about Isaac Hathorn. Isaac is my 3rd great grandfather, the husband of Mahala. 4 7N 19W ST STEPHENS 41.96 acres signed on 11/01/1897.

About – The Slave State of Jones

https://sososlaveryhistory.wordpress.com/about

The Slave State of Jones. The Fascinating History of Enslaved African-Americans in Soso, Mississippi. The Slave State of Jones. Is a platform for the descendants of black people from Jones and Covington Counties in Mississippi to help piece together the poorly-recorded and ignored past of our ancestors. The relative lack of prominent families in Jones County, coupled with the treatment of black people as objects, presents a unique challenge for African-American genealogy. Lewis and Cate Hill.
