Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Wednesday, 27 February 2013. 40mm Alamo part 2. Here is the second in a small series of posts about the development of the Gringo 40's Alamo game for Salute 2013. The first post was before Christmas and covered the building of the chapel. Here is the page if you missed it first time:. Http:/ terrainandtoysoldiers.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Alamo. And scroll down the page to part 1. I also covered the rest of the buildings in Daz. It all looked a bit odd at this stage but I then...

Terrain and Toy Soldiers: February 2012
http://terrainandtoysoldiers.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Wednesday, 29 February 2012. This is a quick one. I was asked to make the facade of the Alamo chapel- the iconic view of the compound. I decided the key to the look of the facade is the look of the pillars and the statues. Here is a drawing of the famous building. The rest of the building was also covered in the clay and then carved when dry. I said this was a quick one! 54mm Roman marching fort. The board ended up being 4ftx4ft split into 4 2x2ft boards so it could be shipped m...

Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Tuesday, 24 July 2012. Normandy village part 6. First of all sorry for the big gap between this new post and my last at the beginning of May. My back decided to play up big time which meant I haven't been able to sit down comfortably for any length of time so couldn't post anything of any use. Enough of the boring stuff. This new section is 28" long and 16" wide. This is bigger than the first section as we want a larger courtyard in the middle. At the same time as working on thi...

Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Thursday, 18 October 2012. 40mm Alamo - part 1. This latest project is a biggy but the deadline isn't until Salute 2013 which is in April. It feels like it is ages away but as anyone knows who arranges games for conventions the date creeps up very quickly. You can find out more information and keep up to date with releases by going to Gringo 40's web site- http:/ www.gringo40s.com. Here is a taster of the range- the first release is a small diorama of the death of Jim Bowie-.

Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Thursday, 27 October 2011. 15mm Arnhem part 3. The next three buildings in the project are not on the same scale as the church but were just as interesting to make. The Arnhem museum model is the third time I have made it (but the first time in 15mm) and the only source I have worked from is of the original model by Colin Rumford of Rapid Fire. The main block is hexagonal and two stories high and there are two wings coming of that to make a very odd shaped structure. When everyt...

Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Wednesday, 18 January 2012. Mountain base project Pt3. The project is just about done now. I left it at the end of part two just about looking like a base but otherwise you needed alot of imagination to see the finished job. The three big jobs I had left was to paint it, add the snow and do the railings. The railings ended up being worth it but each 30cm of railings was made up of about 65 pieces so patience was the word- it took me about one hour a foot to complete! Once I have...

Terrain and Toy Soldiers: September 2012

Terrain and Toy Soldiers. Thursday, 27 September 2012. Pegasus bridge part 3. This was how the whole table looked. The two bridges were scratch built along with all the boards and buildings. The trees were supplied by the Model Tree shop (http:/ themodeltreeshop.co.uk/). They have a massive selection of trees to cover most budgets. This is the whole bridge. The original bridge is a lift bridge. The model didn't move! You can just see Cafe Gondaree on the right of the photo. The game didn't just revolve a...
