ToastPoint: Tomato Paella

http://toastpoint.blogspot.com/2007/09/tomato-paella.html

Thursday, September 06, 2007. Tomato paella. It sits on the line between fussy and stupidly simple. Yes, stock has to be heated in a separate pan—but you could probably skip the heating, or the stock for that matter (water works). Yes, the tomatoes have to be soaked in olive oil and salt and pepper, but you could probably skip that, too. Don’t have the right rice? Use plain old medium-grain Goya (as I did), it’ll be fine. So make this by the book, or go slapdash. The New York Times. 8217; Mark Bittman.

ToastPoint: Palin Pasta

http://toastpoint.blogspot.com/2008/11/palin-pasta.html

Tuesday, November 04, 2008. On this, the last day of the 2008 election, and thus probably the last day the name. Will decorate our highway medians (at least for three and a half years), I give you a final culinary thought on the election season:. No, your eyes do not deceive you. What you see above is pasta in the form of tiny spinach and egg moose. I haven't yet tried this miracle of modern pasta science, but I already know how it will taste- like bitter, bitter tears. Cheat your way thin. 500 love maki...

ToastPoint: Matzo Ball Soup

http://toastpoint.blogspot.com/2009/01/matzo-ball-soup.html

Thursday, January 22, 2009. Though I am a shiksa. Raised by a shiksa, matzo balls did make the occasional appearance in my house growing up. My sister's godfather is a Jew (ponder that one for a minute! And there was a period where ToastMom was in charge of the soup at his Passover festivities. But I didn't really understand the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into a real Passover matzo ball until I married one of the Chosen People. I awoke in New York on the morning of a seder. Tales of soup-based her...

Published by Sakshi on Tuesday, October 03, 2006 at 5:32 AM. A fun and easy way to serve corn from Mohati. A 30 min meal! The best thing about this is that it can be made very quick and with very few ingredients, the ingredients marked with an asterick can be omitted and it will still taste very good. Corn kernels (Canned or frozen) - 2 cans. Chopped green chillies- 2 tbsp (or to taste). Mustard seeds- 1 tsp. Ginger (paste/finely chopped)- 2 tsps. Garlic (paste/finely chopped)- 1 tsp. Dry red chilly - 1.

Published by Sakshi on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 2:58 PM. Sameera sent this recipe. Chutneys - wet or dry- play an important part in Indian cuisines. They help to add that extra punch to a very simple meal. Here's a dry chutney recipe:. Sameera says that it is eaten with uppama, idli and dosa also, but right now she is enjoying it with warm rice with a bit of ghee. Published by Sakshi on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 9:54 AM. Move over the Naked Chef. Here comes the Clothed Cook! Tuesday, August 22, 2006. As soon as I saw this month's JFI Ingredient. Was Milk I knew exactly what to make. I thought that being milk based it had to be a dessert and what better than Kalakand. Well this sweet is probably not really Kalakand but pretty close to it. I have never been a very patient cook and this is probably what has put me off making basundi (one of my favourites! 2 cups Full Cream Milk Powder. 300 mL Thickened Cream. Mix well. A...

The Soul Of A New Cuisine. Published by Sakshi on Tuesday, January 09, 2007 at 6:35 AM. I decided to get off the usual chicken wings and beer menu to try something fancy. The menu was bruschetta, tomato and herb soup and taboulleh. The alcohol was beer :) Yeah watching the game without the beer is . well . just plain stupid but the beer was Smirnoff's Green Apple (I hear you snorting in disdain - it is actually a good beer :/). Ingredients -A loaf of freshly baked French bread. 1/2 cucumber finely chopped.
