James's Genre Books: No gung ho lizards, but yeah...
http://jamesgenrebooks.blogspot.com/2015/08/no-gung-ho-lizards-but-yeah.html
The one with the scantly clad semi-supernatural heroine. No this other one. Monday, August 10, 2015. No gung ho lizards, but yeah. Evidently not long before I started this blog, Ernest Klien released an absolutely fabulous book filled to the brim with geekery and a neat message or five named Ready Player One. I won't go into it here, but yeah, if you haven't read it, go do so now. And what fun it is. The characters get mostly fleshed out enough that we care about their fates, we feel for Zach and his...

James's Genre Books: March 2015
http://jamesgenrebooks.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
The one with the scantly clad semi-supernatural heroine. No this other one. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Someone queue up the AC/DC! So, I picked up a book recently that that I assumed was a bit like Snakes on a Plane. Wherein one only needed the title to get an idea of the plot. Because, with a cover like this, what else could one expect? Anyway, gif soup over with, what I found reading Christopher Fowler's Hell Train. Was a narrative much better than the title or cover art would allow anyone to assume.

James's Genre Books: Non-Smoking, please
http://jamesgenrebooks.blogspot.com/2015/05/non-smoking-please.html
The one with the scantly clad semi-supernatural heroine. No this other one. Saturday, May 23, 2015. I was a bit concerned when I picked up Kelly McCullough's sort of most recent Fallen Blade. Novel, Drawn Blades. Mainly because it's book 5 in the series, and his other series, WebMage. Ended after 5 novels. Thankfully, as we find out after this one ends, there is indeed a 6th one that evidently got released this month. I reserved the new one this evening, and I look forward to seeing where this goes next&...

A Girl and Her Camera. On January 4th, 2013. There is one person in my life that I think I may have that feeling for. I know how I feel when I am with him. That blood stain sure is going to be difficult to remove. Read More ». The Need To Just Be. On October 4th, 2012. Well I rose and I rose. And I paid less time. To your callous mind. Life is ...

James's Genre Books: That's one Hell of a tale....
http://jamesgenrebooks.blogspot.com/2015/06/thats-one-hell-of-tale.html
The one with the scantly clad semi-supernatural heroine. No this other one. Tuesday, June 2, 2015. That's one Hell of a tale. A few notes before we start this. First, the book I'm covering today and the mythology that surrounds it is very adult in nature. As this blog is normally "G" rated, be warned that adult concepts may appear. Second, due to the nature of the mythos, I'm using Wikipedia for background, which will take up the first few paragraphs. Yes, that was supposed to hurt. Well, HELLO, Harry!

James's Genre Books: January 2015
http://jamesgenrebooks.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
The one with the scantly clad semi-supernatural heroine. No this other one. Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togever. For those few of you who haven't already figured this out, I'm a hot gay nerd. Which has to be one of the reasons I wound up picking up Cary Elwes (with Joe Layden)'s memoir As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From the Making of The Princess Bride. If you haven't seen it, get thee to a. And sometimes, Elwes (who's married) gets a little too flowery in profess...

James's Genre Books: April 2015
http://jamesgenrebooks.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
The one with the scantly clad semi-supernatural heroine. No this other one. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. That's a lot of cardio. I actually finished Robert Jackson Bennett's City of Stairs. A few days ago, but I was on vacation and trying to type a review on a tablet didn't seem like the best idea ever. There's a heck of a lot going on in here, and much of the setting details get dumped early on. Much of the book is written in present tense, which becomes less noticeable as the book picks up steam. Series ...
