How To | today I did this for me
https://todayididthisforme.wordpress.com/how-to
Today I did this for me. For unless one is able to live fully in the present, the future is a hoax. There is no point whatsoever in making plans for a future which you will never be able to enjoy. When your plans mature, you will still be living for some other future beyond. You will never, never be able to sit back with full contentment and say Now, I’ve arrived! Your entire education has deprived you of this capacity because it was preparing you for the future, instead of showing you how to be alive now.

Today I did this for me. May 30, 2015. Comments 3 Comments on everything where it’s meant to be. Everything where it’s meant to be. I just finished the first week of my first conservation job. This was a long time coming — three years ago, on an aimless trip to Madrid, I stood in the Prado staring at the conservation labs, and immediately knew, just knew. That was where I needed to be. I certainly never will! While simultaneously my diligence at work was increasingly recognised and rewarded. My thoughts,...

Today I did this for me. June 7, 2016. Comments 1 Comment on Update. I have been lacking in updates, but not in adventures, as my travels have taken me to some glorious places in the last 6 months. I started this blog many years ago as an escape from a life I wasn’t very happy with, to serve as a reminder to do something “for me” every day. November 5, 2015. Comments 4 Comments on the real Camino. Looking for something else completely, a tiny red notebook fell out of a pile of papers. I opened it and...
Walami Trail | today I did this for me

Today I did this for me. May 30, 2012. Comments 3 Comments on Walami Trail. I’m working backwards, but I figure better to post in the order that inspires me than not at all! Quick introduction: James and I went down to Hualien for a few days, and on the last day we took our hired scooter down to Yushan National Park — Yushan being the tallest mountain in Taiwan. We had researched the possibility of going to the Yushan Main Peak. However, the estimates for hiking times in Taiwan tend to be ridiculous.

Today I did this for me. August 15, 2015. Comments No Comments on day 2 down, a hundred more to go. Day 2 down, a hundred more to go. Today I did Chinese practice with Rinny for 5 hours, working on reading content from a contract dispute. I am now 80x better at reading contracts in Chinese. Did you know that “该” in a contract has nothing to do with 应该 but in fact is the formal way of saying 这? 3x [90s walk, 45s run, 2min walk, 45s run]. August 14, 2015. Sticky Rice: February 2013
http://theadventuresofstickyrice.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 19, 2013. The Tao of driving. George is my driving instructor. In our driving lesson today he told me I was indecisive, hesistant, over cautious and slow. He was talking about my driving but I think he was also referring to my character in general. For example, at the round-about I slowed down to an almost stop, looked right and left whilst standing for a moment and then moved off around the roundabout. There are many reasons why I am so cautious when driving. In particular my mother.

June 5, 2012 at 10:09 am ( Peeved. So It’s time for another peeved mention of African life. This one, as the more intuitive may gather, left me battered and bruised. To be precise: battered, bruised and with several injections from a none-too-sympathetic nurse. Just how many stabs does a tetanus shot need anyway? Needless to say, I don’t try to cuddle the guard dogs. Now, the least I expect from a security system is that it protects me. That’s fair right? So imagine my surprise as, battered and bleeding,...

A whimsical or extravagant structure built to serve as a conversation piece. Here i am…. May 23, 2014. Hey, friends. Been a while. A long while. I’m sorry for that. Bit of a drought, it seems. I recently went to Savannah for some friends’ wedding. As getting out of your daily rut/places will do, it brought on some thinking. That and various things at home involving raising teenagers. It’s not a pretty business, people. What’s cool or exciting about that? Most of our friends have “real jobs”&#...The Girl ...

Sunday, 29 May 2011. A Month of Fun. This is my first post in a month - maybe I am not cut out for the blogging world. Regardless, I've been having a lot of fun and loving Korea more and more. I can't believe it's been three months already! Katie, Brian, Me and Seowoo. At the beginning of May we had a long weekend, it was Children's Day. So the day before that was Green Day (made up by our school).which was just a day of fun activities for the kids. Which was also perfect for us because it me...Probably ...
STEF IN KOREA: July 2011
http://stefinkorea.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 10 July 2011. This list is in no way exhaustive, but it's a start. Here are 10 things that I find strange about Korea. I am learning that it's better not to ask yourself 'why'? 1 Drunk old men sometimes hold hands and can be seen passed out on benches and on the street. 2 Couples wear matching clothes. 3 Guys carry their girlfriends’ purses. 4 Public bathrooms usually have bars of soap, not liquid soap. 5 Public bathrooms almost never have paper towels. 6 People walk on the treadmills at the gym.
STEF IN KOREA: Salvaged Winter Break
http://stefinkorea.blogspot.com/2012/01/salvaged-winter-break.html
Sunday, 1 January 2012. I only have two weeks of vacation in the year - one in the summer and one in the winter. Sam and I had been planning our trip to the Philippines since the summer. We bought our plane tickets and booked our hostel far in advance. We were soooo excited! She comes back and tells me, "Sorry, but I can't let you through. Your passport expires in four and a half months and you need at least six to get into the country." I was in shock! I waited for my bag, cried, called my mom, and was ...
STEF IN KOREA: December 2011
http://stefinkorea.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 26 December 2011. Frances and I traveled together down the coast of Queensland for two or three weeks in 2009. We also lived together in Melbourne for four months that same year. And by that I mean she took me in when I ran out of money.she let me live with her for free! She is now living in London and I am so happy for her! But also jealous because Sam is moving to Paris very soon and they will be so close to each other. And because I want to live in London! The grass is always greener I guess.
