A Sri Lankan Volunteering Adventure…. October 17, 2013. Working in Mannar has been challenging. Long hours, slow progress, road blocks and oh so very hot. What gets the team through the week is the wonderful travel on the weekends. Nilaweli Beach, Trincomalee. I’d almost forgotten how amazing they were. The best thing about our hotel? A Sri Lankan Volunteering Adventure…. There’s no other word for it. October 7, 2013. Reflecting on my first week in Mannar, Sri Lanka, the only word that comes to mind is ‘intense’. WRONG The “nice” bus was a mission brown 80’s (maybe 70’s) antique bus with busted brown tartan seats (were they originally brown? It could even be heard through ear plugs.
