Vicious summer | ben's cactus
https://benscactus.wordpress.com/2016/02/08/vicious-summer
Admiring the beauty of plants. It’s finally summer again, summer here in Malaysia means the changing of the wind direction, blowing away any clouds and makes it super hot! This time of the year is where many cacti will get sunburnt. Well except for Mammillaria, they are really hard to burn. It’s been one week without rain, and the heat waves blasted heavily on our cacti. That’s the normal weather for January and February. But after two weeks, it started to rain everyday again! The Mammillaria are not hap...

Admiring the beauty of plants. Since the summer heat arrived, most of my cactus and succulents are struggling to adapt. Some that can’t adapt are either sun burnt or severely dehydrated, check out my post on that: Vicious summer. I like to share with you some sick cactus of mine. This poor Astrophytum got severe root mealybugs infection and dehydration, a good wash of the root and a new potting mix of more granite seems to help with its recovery. More weeks passed and it finally grew new leaves! So I pro...

Admiring the beauty of plants. Vicious summer continued…. I thought the heat wave won’t last very long, I was wrong, just last week, it was declared that the weather would be the hottest it has ever been. Reaching 38 degree Celsius in some areas. Admiring the beauty of plants. Cactus soil for beginners. Ok, here’s a better guide about mixing the right cactus soil. I will take into account of climate too in better understanding soil mixes. All of this information are of my own experience in growing cacti, reading and studying about cacti growing in other country, it may not be too accurate, but I hope it’s a good start for beginners. Thirdly, the nutrients content. How fertile should your soil be. Secondly, the drying rate, this is where climate c...

Todd's blog | 1-2-3, this is a test
1-2-3, this is a test. 5 reasons to subscribe. 5 April, 2013 06:39. I was in a show starring an Arnold Schwarzenegger stick-puppet and I wasn’t sleeping enough. We would wrap at midnight, so I would get home around 1am but I couldn’t sleep straight away because I was too wired. So instead when I got home I would play MarioKart on the Wii. It was pretty fun and helped me unwind. I’d forget everything else and then after half an hour (= eight races) I’d go to bed. I should wear that more often! But oddly e...

Thursday, April 25, 2013. Here's my take, and it might surprise you. When I started my Internet company, it was the Wild, Wild, West. Capitalism at it's finest. Those that saw the "vision" of what the Internet would become, got in cheap, made a TON of money, and in most cases, the customer WON. Like all good things. Since 2003, there have been those that have fought to destroy this new Capitalist opportunity. Let me explain. Spend money on their own Online Store and compete without an advantage? For the ...

Todd M. Horst. Life Updates- and svg. I’ve been doing a lot of iPhone development, and redid my proof of concept jQuery Mobile website. So no shortage of work. Also had my 2nd child since my last post. :). In doing all the work I’ve found that there are not to many places that offer svg files of their free icons. Those that do, have very limited packs.
