beyond my gate: pearl-bordered fritillary
http://beyondmygate.blogspot.com/2015/05/pearl-bordered-fritillary.html
A view of countryside life beyond my garden gate. Monday, 4 May 2015. We visited the Wyre forest this morning with the hope of seeing some pearl bordered fritillary butterflies, The last time we visited was a beautiful sunny warm day and it seemed that they were everywhere, the weather forecast last night looked favourable, so we ignored the clouds at home and set off fairly early with trusting the forecast and the sun would be shining and we would see loads! Until it briefly landed on a dandelion. 1st U...

A view of countryside life beyond my garden gate. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Out on the chase. Yesterday we spent the morning wandering about on Cannock chase. We walked down to the stepping stones first,. With cuckoo calling and green woodpecker yaffling, we spotted a green tiger beetle,. And a nesting pair of redstart,. We then walked up onto the heath to look for green hairstreak - we were not disappointed! We also saw a cinnabar moth which just refused to stay still. And this oak eggar moth caterpillar.

beyond my gate: January 2014
http://beyondmygate.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
A view of countryside life beyond my garden gate. Wednesday, 15 January 2014. What is it about puddles? When I was a child puddles would entertain me for ooh . minutes! I would splash through them, ride my bike through them with legs up high out of the way! Throw stones and soil into them and poor unsuspecting worms and beetles would unfortunately get tossed in occasionally too just so I could see if they would make it out again! Links to this post. beyond my gate: bluebells and butterflies
http://beyondmygate.blogspot.com/2015/05/bluebells-and-butterflies.html
A view of countryside life beyond my garden gate. Sunday, 3 May 2015. At last a free day and a chance to visit Aqualate to look at the bluebells, and the butterflies were about too! Most of the bluebells are the other side of the fence so although I could see butterflies fluttering around the mass of bluebells I couldn't get up close to most. The first one we saw that settled just about close enough, was this red admiral,. A quick snap of it in flight, just in case it didn't stop. But I needn't of worried.

beyond my gate: July 2014
http://beyondmygate.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
A view of countryside life beyond my garden gate. Wednesday, 30 July 2014. A day out to Loch Coruisk. This was a treat for me and my daughter, while Mr S spent the day at Elgol, looking after our dog who would not have coped with the boat trip. Mr S had visited Coruisk by sea kayak before so he'd recommended it, for it's stunning views - we took the Bella Jane. With the 1 1/2 hour landing at Coruisk to enjoy. I needed to get on the water even if it was just a small boat! We then approached Coruisk. Time ...
