Thanks to you and your support of our Reason2Race campaign last year at the Woodlands Marathon, we have been able to launch a new micro credit program for two communities in the Philippines who have lost everything due to Typhoon Yolanda. TIH is supporting a new micro-credit program for the caregivers of the children attending the Youth Release, youth center in Gende Tesfa. The micro-credit program will train the participants in how to run a business amd open their own business.

Rosette (Malis, The Philippines). Rani Solomon is an only child and is 8 years old. As a young child she witnessed her alcoholic father beat her mother. The domestic abuse continued until Rani’s mother left and moved into her parent’s house and began selling bread to make a living to support her and her daughter. In 2008, Jack and I had the privilege of setting our feet on the ground in Uganda and Rwanda, and also in the Philippines for the second time, and in El Salvador. We fell in love with the children and their precious smiles and open arms, despite the horrendous poverty and other circumstances that define their lives. Running for the children of El Salvador. Day 122 – tomorrow is race day – 13.1 miles. July 24, 2010. As I prepare for tomorrow’s race, I am filled with anxiety – why am I doing this? What if I can’t do it? What if I fail? It feels impossible – how will I do it? Day 121 – I have been away from the blog for a long time. July 23, 2010. Day 74 – 9 Miles and Muscle Trauma.
