On the Turquoise Coast. Thursday, May 29, 2014. View of the theater at Termessos. 1 Termessos - This ruin is the best one I have seen in our time abroad. It's hard to argue with stunning views, well preserved buildings, scarce amounts of people, and lots of nature all around you. I went twice, but I could have gone ten times. View of our favorite cave church. 5 Bergama - This ruin get lots of points for setting. The theater is lovely, and the entire mountain is littered with ruins for exploration. 7 Perg...

On the Turquoise Coast. Monday, April 13, 2015. View of totem polls in Thunderbird Park. We reluctantly left Tofino, and we gradually made our way to Victoria. I had been to Victoria a few times, but only as a kid. I wanted to get to know the city from an adult perspective. We stayed with a lovely couple using Airbnb. They owned a food truck, which meant that they knew all the best food in town. Fish taco from Red Fish Blue Fish. View of the gardens at Government House. Otter guarding his den. View of ot...

On the Turquoise Coast. Sunday, April 20, 2014. A Day in Hasankeyf. We crossed the Euphrates between Gaziantep and Urfa, so it seemed only appropriate to journey to the Tigris as well, for a complete Mesopotamia experience. One of the most spectacular places to see the Tigris is Hasankeyf, a tiny village clinging to the cliffs, next to an ancient settlement clinging to even higher cliffs. The village of Hasankeyf, with its ancient bridge. Caves along the Tigris. First we climbed up to a lookout to get a ...

On the Turquoise Coast. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Ancient Cultures in Villahermosa. Since we visited out northern neighbors on our last trip, it seemed only right to go south for our subsequent holiday. We traveled to Villahermosa, Mexico via a flight through a terrifying lightening storm. We wanted to go back to Mexico because we had such a good time on our trip eight years ago. We decided to go to Villahermosa because we wanted to see Olmec ruins. Elinor with a giant Olmec head. Danny "el chele" Steyer.
