Can a simple southern man make it in the big city? Saturday, June 30, 2012. Fun with the Miyakodas. These are some pictures from the beginning of April, when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Having a few drinks at a Hanami (cherry viewing party) hosted by one of the residential buildings near our office. Stopping by another Hanami on the Meguro River, famous for the cherries lining its banks. This plaza is one of many places along the river where you can take boat tours to view the cherries.

I recently completed another session of Japanese Language Class provided by the Shinagawa International Friendship Association (SIFA). 2 of my classmates, and my 2 teachers. From left to right, Sebastien (France), Kinoshita-sensei, Te-san (Singapore), Koizumi-sensei, and a student from another class. I got to wear a traditional Yukata, or casual summer weight kimono. Few things make me happier than having a beer in hand and some meat on the grill with weather that lets you wear shorts and a long sleeve shirt. Can a simple southern man make it in the big city? Sunday, February 17, 2013. Over the winter holiday Aya and I spent a day at the Ueno Zoo, the oldest zoo in Japan. Since the zoo was built in 1882, the animal enclosures tend to be more cage like than most modern zoos but the newer exhibits incorporate more modern "habitat" enclosures. With an entry fee of 600 yen for adults the Zoo is one of the best deals in town. Hoo-hoo you looking at (I can't help it). Thank goodness Panda's are vegetarian. Subscrib...
