Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Friendly folk everywhere- Antigua, Guatemala. What a beautiful city. Antigua is set in the hills surrounded by a group of volcanoes, it's built entirely in Colonial style, and only an hour away from the dangers of Guatemala City. Thursday, October 27, 2011. We met a bunch of Aussies and studied hard at Espanol for a week and a half and cooked dinner together every night. Some of the best meals on our trip were created here - we even cooked a roast. Believe us, the food in SA is not something to shout about so home cooked meals are a blessing! Thursday, July 14, 2011. We caught a taxi for the 3 hr journey from Potosi to Sucre. Bit extravagant I know, however it was the equivalent of only $6 more than a bus so it was definitely worth it! Little luxuries are GOOD in Bolivia, plus with the driver speeding like a maniac the whole way he managed to get us there in a very swift 2 hours. Sunday, July 8, 2012. La Casa de Mezcal - Oaxaca, Mexico. Our final overnight bus ride took us to Oaxaca, the Mezcal (a spirit similar to Tequila) and food capital of Mexico. Oaxaca is particularly famous for Mole (a chilli chocolate sauce) and for its love of fried bugs! Oaxaca is also a beautiful artistic colonial city in its own right. When we arrived in the city at 9.30pm on a Wednesday night, the whole area was eerily quiet and we were doubting our decision to stay there.
