Students have learned all 15 of their major scales and are now involved in an NCAA inspired tournament where they play their scales for speed. The fastest scale moves on to the next round. Wednesday, April 18, 2012. The Caston Comet Band traveled to Purdue to rehearse with student leaders from the All American Marching Band. We are preparing for our side by side concert on April 24. The concert is part of the Partners in Music Education. Program. The Caston Comet Band and the Caston Junior Band will be performing with the All American Marching Band student leaders as well as the Purdue Jazz Lab Band and the Caston Comet Band. Both the Purdue and Caston Students have enjoyed the experience.

The highlight of the year so far has been a video conference with composer Pierre La Plante. We are currently playing his piece FANTASY ON A FIDDLE TUNE. Sunday, November 20, 2011. With the unofficial close of fall, Thanksgiving Break, on the horizon it is time to think about our winter. The Comet Band will be hosting the Purdue University Block Band for a basketball game on January 13, we travel to Fort Wayne on January 21 for our IMEA Session on Video Conferencing, and we host composer Thomas Davis February 21. We are excited for Purdue, IMEA and Mr. Davis. Monday, November 14, 2011. The wind blows the snow around then it comes down! Hymn to the Marines.

Monday, January 30, 2012. The Comet Band Demonstrating at the 2012 IMEA Conference. On January 21, 2012 the Caston Comet Band Traveled to the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana to demonstrate how to video conference in a music rehearsal. The computer equipment worked flawless. The Grand Wayne internet connection was amazing! Video conferencing can be used effectively in a music rehearsal.
