Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. Come and see my amazing friends. May 29, 2013. Two of my very best friends in the world, Tom and Lesley Thompson, have taken the admirable and adrenaline-pumping risk of planting a church. This is not something they’ve done before, but I have absolutely no doubt they’ll be ridiculously amazing at it. Because they are both ridiculously amazing. All the details are below. Just click to enlarge the image. And if all this is of no interest to you...

Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. August 27, 2013. It’s quite a relief to finally be able to write this post. The last few months have been something of a roller coaster, on which more in a moment, but it’s meant I couldn’t actually say anything about this – thankfully, until now. For the twitter age, here’s the bullet point version of my news:. I’m leaving Youthwork and Childrenswork magazines, after 12 years’ employment at the Premier Media Group. With Youthwork magazine; I...

Youthwork Summit 2013 – my highlights | MARTIN SAUNDERS
https://martinsaunders.wordpress.com/2013/05/24/youthwork-summit-2013-my-highlights
Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. Youthwork Summit 2013 – my highlights. May 24, 2013. From talking to delegates and perusing the feedback survey, it seems like everyone had a different highlight, which is of course the beauty of an event with so many diverse speakers sharing in such bite-sized instalments. Here then are a few of my personal favourite moments from yws13, which was incidentally my favourite of the four we’ve done so far. Don't Tumble, be humble. Thanks for thi...

Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. May 30, 2013. So this is strange… I was looking through the photos from the 2013 Youthwork Summit. Event, and found this pic of me. This is apparently how I was standing for a full 20 seconds at the end as I encouraged the gathering in some final, er, chanting… Is anyone else worried? Don't Tumble, be humble. Come and see my amazing friends. Moving on →. One response to “ Messiah complex? July 12, 2016 at 9:39 pm. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. June 2, 2014. A few weeks ago, I wrote this article. For the British youth ministry magazine. Lots of people said lots of nice things about it, and then I felt warm and fuzzy, and then immediately guilty (which will make sense if you read the piece). The précis, if you can’t be bothered:. 8211; Youth ministry attracts highly-relational entrepreneurs, who like building stuff with and for people. That is to say – I’m going to look f...To talk a...

Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. I love film, and as a bit of a hobby, I write for the screen. Here are a couple of recent projects…. This is a short film I co-wrote with my friend Graeme Law, and which is directed by the phenomenally-talented Francis Annan. It’s a no-dialogue mystery with one actor – the brilliant Darren Boyd – and it’s currently in the editing room. I’ll post a link once it’s online. My feeble-looking IMDB pages is here. 2 responses to “ Films. You are com...

Celia’s perfect pancake | MARTIN SAUNDERS
https://martinsaunders.wordpress.com/2014/03/03/celias-perfect-pancake
Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. Celia’s perfect pancake. March 3, 2014. I can take absolutely no credit for this, but – with shrove tuesday looming – this is the best pancake recipe I’ve ever found. It was given to me by my then journalist on Youthwork magazine, Celia Hyland, and it has done me proud for every pancake day (and most Saturday mornings, since). I believe it was handed down to her by a wise wizard, or possibly a parent. Makes approx. 12 thin pancakes. Notify me...

Ideas, thoughts and reflections on youth ministry and culture. June 25, 2012. In Children and Family. If you’ve visited this blog over the last couple of weeks, you’re almost certainly familiar with our six-year-old son Joel and his one-boy crusade against global poverty. And then watched wide-eyed as people all over the world caught hold of his vision. When he came to do his two-mile run on Saturday (23/6/12), he was a whisker away from having raised 6,000! EDIT: 27.06.12. I ran to my family, and they c...
