Sunday, November 30, 2014. We have been doing some short bike rides on Sunday mornings to help the kids expend some energy before church at 1 pm. We go to 9 am church in January, which will be nice and challenging at the same time. :). Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Family Night at the Top of the World. Shaunie had the brilliant idea to have family night at a park in Newport Coast. She whipped up a portable dinner while I blended up my own dinner (green smoothie) and off we went. Nom, nom, nom. Shaunie and the kids ate spaghetti with creamy tomato sauce and we all had some yummy watermelon, cucumbers, and raw broccoli. Jilly teaching us her lesson. Evelyn taking her turn teaching. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. April is a busy month! It's the kick off to spring and birthdays and holidays for us. We took a bike ride one Sunday afternoon and happened upon this outdoor gallery of marble carvings. The kids now refer to it as La Luna Park ("The Moon" in Spanish. Statues mooning us, get it? Out on a ride with Ben and Gordon, getting to know the Back Bay trails a little better. Such a pretty view! I think Gordon may have been pointing out the birds or something. "A" chose her pumpkin right off the bat, then checked all the rest out and came right back to the first one she picked. I guess she wasn't sure if we were going to let her keep it or not, because she quickly started running away with it as soon as she had it. Happy dad said she could keep it. Thursday, July 31, 2014. First stop, Las Vegas. Not for a hotel this time. For Tacos El Gordo. This restaurant has really good, authentic tacos and Gordon gives it a thumbs up. We stayed at a very nice La Quinta in Ely, Nevada that night. It had a good breakfast spread and swimming pool. Monday, June 30, 2014. Palomar Mountain Camping Trip. To celebrate the end of the school year, we booked a camping trip to some mountains southeast of us, the Palomar Mountain area. It gets snow in the winter (5000-6000 ft in elevation), although with the drought, it seemed the area had not seen significant moisture in quite some time. Excited for tinfoil dinners! Sunday, April 12, 2015. Easter and Spring Break 2015. Ben's cousin Jeff was in town for work and wanted to meet up with Uncle Dan and us for dinner.
