Finally an omlette at a pavement cafe in Paris - the BEST omlette I ever ate. . The lifer (for those who rode the whole tour) award. Made by a charity workshop for young offender rehabilitation. Pride of place in Brown household. Bike is already in transit to Edinburgh. I fly in this afternoon to be met by Cluny Avenue Royalty - Liz- support extraordinere. What will I do differently? Never fear anything. There are no bigger hurdles than TdF. Going to stay this fit as long as I can. 27th June - 21st July.

My blog of the 18th said it all. Despite the build up to the Alps, a 7 mountain ride had lots of descending but was relentless in the route to enjoy such pleasures. It all began to make Bretagne and Cobbles, a doddle. There were times on day 18 when I began to really question my sanity. There were points on the ride when, if offered a lift by the sweeper van, it would have been readily accepted - but when you thought you needed it, the sweeper van was nowhere to be seen! It is 6:30 am and we are off again! Stage 5: Arras to Amiens. Not quite flat but it should be a historic day as we cross large sections of the 1914-18 Western Front. 189km.
