Tony Preciado's Workshop

Friday, 5 October 2012. How I made my Zombie Costume! In honor of Halloween, I'd like to share the process I went through in making myself a zombie costume. This post is going to be picture-heavy, as I took a bunch of snaps while I was making this costume, but the pics should be helpful in showing the steps in my process. I had something pretty specific in mind for my zombie costume: I wanted to have an exposed jaw, as if the outer skin had been ripped right off of it. OK, let's do this! After the algina...

Tony Preciado's Workshop: January 2011

http://www.tonypreciado-workshop.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, 23 January 2011. As threatened, I have a baby related post, however, I do think that it qualifies as a workshop project as it involves painting a mural onto a wall and the problem solving that went along with making it all come together. As we finished painting each taped-off sections, we would peel off the tape. Then (after the paint was dry) we would re-tape the opposite sections so that we could paint the opposite sides. We did this until we had all of our wall sections painted. Now, onto pain...

Tony Preciado's Workshop: July 2010

Saturday, 17 July 2010. DIY Rotating Sculpture Base. You know, sometimes it's kinda funny how things work out. As I was starting to work on more sculpture, I thought to myself that it would really be nice to have a Lazy-Susan style rotating sculpture base, if not an actual banding wheel, to do my sculpting on. I started surfing the net and researching different types and what they cost. A really nice banding wheel. Here's my rotating sculpture base. And for free, no less! After the staining, I gave them ...

Tony Preciado's Workshop: August 2010

http://www.tonypreciado-workshop.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 18 August 2010. In the Fall of 2009, I took an evening sculpture class. The class was taught by San Francisco Bay Area sculptor Michael Murnane. Now, Mike just happens to be a good friend of mine, but that aside, I can say without any reservation that Mike is one hell of a damn good sculptor. Of course, Mike's credentials don't hinge my humble opinion. His work speaks for itself. This is a freestyle bust. For the sculpture below, we used a piece of fabric as reference. This next piece was an e...

Tony Preciado's Animation Reel: MY BACKGROUND

http://www.tonypreciado.com/p/about.html

The majority of my career in the film industry has been as a special effects artist. The types of films on which I've worked include stop-motion animated films and live-action features. The work I've done has always been very challenging and demanding, but I've always had a lot of fun doing it, and I've always learned a few new things along the way. My first job was on The Nightmare Before Christmas. The Nightmare Before Christmas. After that, I went on to work on the stop-motion version of Mars Attacks!

Tony Preciado's Animation Reel: WELCOME

http://www.tonypreciado.com/2010/03/tony-preciado-animation.html

Saturday, 27 March 2010. Hey there, I've just updated this blog so that it's (hopefully) a lot more user-friendly. I've put my animation reel on it's own page (see the blue menu tabs listed just below my blogs title), so it won't get buried below any subsequent blog postings. With this new structure in place, I'm free to keep adding more work related (and some non-work related) postings. Thanks for stopping in! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 1) The very first shot is from the movie Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. And when you watch it you'll notice that it's actually three back-to-back shots cut together to play a quick action sequence. The next two shots that follow are also from Cats and Dogs 2. 2) The next string of edited shots is for the video game How To Train Your Dragon. 3) The next two shot are for the video game Shrek 4. 4) The last series of shots is for the video game Mosters Vs. Aliens. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Thursday, 20 January 2011. Back in early December, I got a call from my friend Fon Davis asking if I was available to do some model building work for his company, Fonco Creative. I'm a sucker for stop-motion, so this was a nice treat for me. Plus, I have to admit that it was especially fun working in a shop and getting my hands (and everything else) dirty again. Here are the goods:. 22 January 2011 at 12:48. Thats so Freaking awesome Tony! 22 January 2011 at 14:34. 26 January 2011 at 23:14.

Tony Preciado's Animation Reel: Animator Film Credit

http://www.tonypreciado.com/2011/01/animator-film-credit.html

Wednesday, 19 January 2011. OK, it's official! Just last year, I received my first animator credit for my work on the feature film Cats and Dogs 2, The Revenge of Kitty Galore. It's really a great feeling. I've worked on several films, but never as an animator, and since animation is the reason that I started working in this industry, it's really a wonderful milestone for me. I really have to thank the animation department at Tippett Studio. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
