Why can't I buy a Playboy. College newspaper, 1998. It was a question my editor threw at me from nowhere. My assignment for the next day's paper. Four hours later, I filed this report. It contains the answer to his question, insight into bookstore management and purchasing decisions, the opinions of eight students from diverse backgrounds, comments from the off-campus competition, and the words "skin fix." All because we needed to fill a hole. (Ha ha.). Give me a deadline, I won't let you down.

The name Fernon Feenstra was my first clue this would be a story I'd remember. I made my editor repeat it. I thought you'd say that," he said. "Fernon Feenstra.". Fernon was named our paper's First Citizen, a title that goes to someone who made a difference in the community. After spending a while with Fernon and hearing his stories, I was at a loss for my lead. Where should I begin? It would never work as a lead, but it was funny. Links to this post.
