http://topoftexastoastmasters.blogspot.com/2014/03/what-day-for-top-of-texas.html
Monday, March 31, 2014. What a Day for Top of Texas! March 29th was quite eventful for Top of Texas! Our weekly meeting was low in attendance, but still fun and interesting as always. A few of us even doubled our duties! Sandra gave a speech on the changes she has made through her journey with Toastmasters and how she motivates herself to make changes in her life. I spoke about my trip to Europe and gave some tips on how to make the best of your visit. Lina Choun, TM. Photo credit: Sandra Price. Top of T...

Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: An Achievement That Was Earned

Sunday, May 11, 2014. An Achievement That Was Earned. I achieved something I never thought I would. It is also interesting to note that entering the Tall Tales contest at the club level was something I was very unsure about probably until a week before the contest. I thought, I am not a competitor, I am not good enough to compete against all those out there who have been in Toastmasters much longer than I have. I am not a natural. I am not even a Competent Communicator! Posted by Jodie Sanders. An Achiev...

Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: The Three Musketeers of Persuasive Speaking
http://topoftexastoastmasters.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-three-musketeers-of-persuasive.html
Saturday, May 24, 2014. The Three Musketeers of Persuasive Speaking. In The Three Musketeers, Alexander Dumas give us the characters Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. With the motto "All for one, and one for all" they use the tip of a sword to foil plans of Cardinal Richelieu and persuade allegiance to the French crown. In modern times, using a sharp pointy object as a tool of persuasion is frowned upon heavily. We instead must rely on words to get across meaning and elicit response to our cause. Let's boil it...

Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: November 2014

Friday, November 14, 2014. A Walk Down Memory Lane. With contest season drawing to a close this coming weekend at the District 25 conference. Attendance was back up at our weekly meeting this past Saturday! Not only did we have a guest, we also gained a new member. Shannon, the meeting's Toastmaster, chose High School Bands for the theme. She took us all back to our high school days with most of us reminiscing about the instruments we played when we were younger. Lina Choun, TM. Links to this post. Resou...

Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: Made To Be Broken
http://topoftexastoastmasters.blogspot.com/2014/01/made-to-be-broken.html
Saturday, January 18, 2014. Made To Be Broken. With an opening like that you might be surprised to hear that New Year’s Day is my favorite holiday. I love the New Year because it’s a time to wake up from sleep walking through life and get back on track. It’s a time to reflect on where you've been, evaluate where you are, and most importantly decide where you are going. Marshall Lehr, CC, ALB. Top of Texas Toastmasters. Labels: Miracle Grow Miniute. Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: September 20th Meeting - Small, Intimate, and Full of Content
http://topoftexastoastmasters.blogspot.com/2014/09/saturdays-meeting-was-intimate-one.html
Monday, September 22, 2014. September 20th Meeting - Small, Intimate, and Full of Content. Saturday's meeting was an intimate one. Lina, who graciously stepped in to be Toastmaster picked the theme, "An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away." What did she share with us all? Interesting facts about apples, of course, because it was Eat an Apple Day. Did you know there are 7500 varieties of apples around the world? I learned this among facts about apples! Fun questions. It was a tie breaker! DeAnne Wolf, CC, CL.

Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: Communication Skills Overlap Personal as well as Professional
http://topoftexastoastmasters.blogspot.com/2014/12/communication-skills-overlap-personal.html
Thursday, December 18, 2014. Communication Skills Overlap Personal as well as Professional. However, the one thing I also did this past year that I must mention as the headline of my memberships is that I finally attended and joined a Toastmasters Club. I procrastinated over taking the initiative to do this for 20 years, primarily because I wasn’t sure how to, and I didn’t offer up the time to learn how. Yes, I am kicking myself I didn’t do it sooner. Labels: Miracle Grow Miniute. Toastmasters Club # 5788.

Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: Write Your Story

Friday, April 11, 2014. Back in November 2011 I received yet another rejection. It was a unique time in my life where I received an unusual number of employment inquiries. I wasn’t actively seeking other employment, but I received many calls in a short amount of time. Some I had no interest in but a few got my attention - and one much more than the others. Top of Texas Toastmasters - Club Blog: Bringing in the New Year
http://topoftexastoastmasters.blogspot.com/2014/12/bringing-in-new-year.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Bringing in the New Year. I spent some time on the site, and then made a simple spreadsheet from the information I collected so that I could see what clubs offered the times and the days that worked best for me. I also paid attention to anything the clubs might specialize in. I tried a few before visiting and then joining the Top of Texas Toastmasters Club. I’d recommend to anyone who’s on the fence about joining, to just go and visit some clubs. Ken Dorsey and Regina Clay.
