Ropeless: March 2013
http://ropeless.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Pigeon Forge wasn't all bad though. In addition to all the run of the mill clothing outlet stores, it also happened to have a Coleman outlet store. We bought this cool collapsible stove-top oven for our camp stove. In the past we have had various degrees of success in trying to bake on the stove or in our small barbeque. Here is Kristal with some awesome fresh-out-of-the-oven corn bread. Delicious! The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Tuesday, September 11, 2012. And so we come to the end of another successful road trip. After the wedding of Kristal's cousin, we made the long drive back across the plains, to spend a few days at my parent's farm before heading home to Ottawa. The climbing this summer has been nothing short of amazing, highlighted by the many long multi-pitch routes we climbed in some truly spectacular settings, and culminating with our epic trip to the Bugaboos.

Ropeless: July 2012
http://ropeless.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Wednesday, July 25, 2012. The last week has been interesting for sure, and a bit of a departure from our recent routine. For one thing, the weather hasn't been super co-operative. We've often seen views like this. We also helped out Kristal's aunt and uncle in Calgary, who were on vacation (ha! Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Here's Kristal about midway up. And approaching the summit. Despite the 1500 ft of climbing it turned into a surprisingly short day...

Ropeless: The Promised Land
http://ropeless.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-promised-land.html
The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. On day 1 we hiked in about 11 km to where we set up camp. If you happen to own and ATV you can actually cut that down to only 2 km of steep hiking. Sadly we don't own and ATV, so yeah, we got an extra 9 km of hiking. We set up camp on the cool alpine terrain of the Ptolemy plateau. Here is the view looking back out the entrance of Cleft cave, with Kristal silhouetted at the bottom. Basically skiing down a snow slope on yo...

Ropeless: The Boulderfields
http://ropeless.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-boulderfields.html
The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Monday, August 25, 2014. We had been biding our time in the mountains waiting for the heat wave to ease, but it seemed to be a lost cause. It was with some reservation that we finally decided to suck it up and head to our next planned destination - the Okanagan Valley. With forecast temperatures in the upper 30's we didn't think we'd be staying very long. Other big reasons we stayed so long include:. 1 - Awesome problems. 4 Making new friends.

The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Thursday, April 18, 2013. The New River Gorge has long been on our list of places to climb, but up until this road trip a visit here just hasn't worked out. We've been here for a week now, and we've climbed every day since we arrived. Not surprisingly we've been mostly seeking out the awesome crack climbs. Here is our new friend Martin leading the impressive New Fangled Dangle 5.11a. Me heading up Springboard 5.10b. Though the hot weather doesn't ...

Ropeless: Yoho National Park
http://ropeless.blogspot.com/2014/08/yoho-national-park.html
The adventures of Yason Touthomme and The Pinnacle Gnome. Wednesday, August 13, 2014. After passing the fossil beds, our nice hiking trail turned into a long slog up scree slopes before hitting a chossy limestone headwall, and a seriously exposed traverse. Five hours and 2000 m of elevation gain later (that's 6600 ft! We finally made it to the top. The views were well worth it. A beautiful clear blue sky in the morning. Stunning views from the summit. Filling out the log book in the summit hut.
