Toronto Wildlife: More Baby Ducks

http://torontowildlife.blogspot.com/2008/11/more-baby-ducks.html

Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Okay, it's pure box office, but I'm showing another pic of a duckling. This is a wood duckling, wood ducks maybe being the most beautiful of waterfowl, or so some say. They're actually reasonably plentiful. Around Toronto in the spring, summer and fall but they are shy. The only place I know of to get close to them on a regular basis is the duck pond at High Park. I'll post an image of a male wood duckling in full breeding plumage some other time. They really do look cool.

Toronto Wildlife: Punching Above His Weight

http://torontowildlife.blogspot.com/2009/05/punching-above-his-weight.html

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Punching Above His Weight. Sure, maybe I'm paranoid, but as I snapped this guy's picture I swear he kept looking in my direction every time the shutter fired, just as you see here. I've seen wasps do this before, which is interesting because this little Argid Sawfly is actually related to the wasp family. Taken at the Don Valley Brickworks, which is yes, near the Don River. Click to enlarge and really see the compound eye. Most Viewed Tips -. Where to Find Wildlife in Toronto.

While it would be fun to go out and look at wildlife every day forever and ever, sadly sometimes other aspects of life intrude. But it's worth mentioning that yours truly was featured (sort of) in a good article at Inside Toronto. Part of a whole series on wildlife in Toronto. The article leads with my chance coyote meeting. The article also reveals the secret location of Area 51. Most Viewed Tips -. Turkey V...

Toronto Wildlife: Shooting Tree Swallows in Flight

http://torontowildlife.blogspot.com/2010/05/shooting-tree-swallows-in-flight.html

Monday, May 17, 2010. Shooting Tree Swallows in Flight. So how the heck do you shoot something like this? It's not quite as hard as you might think. Okay, now comes the tricky part. Start trying to shoot the tree swallows as they dart around in circles. Repeat until insane. You can. Shoot swallows this way but it's very time-consuming and takes a lot of practice. Luckily there's a much easier method that follows solidly in an important time-honoured tradition of nature photography. He was heading here.

Thursday, October 23, 2008. Where to Find Wildlife and Birds in Toronto. Well, the truth is, you can look just about anywhere: the nearest reasonably big park, your backyard, you name it. But for those of you wanting slightly more specific ideas, here are some of the best places to look for birds and wildlife in Toronto and 'Greater Toronto.' In no particular order you can try:.
